Doing that will change the icons in the normal icon view, but not the "tiles" view, but thanks anyway for responding. 
Seems like one of hardcoded values to me.
Not hardcoded...you can change it!
TweakUI has that option (under Explorer/Thumbnails), at least the version I have contains that feature... try it at

I think you misunderstood him, he means the tiles view, not the thumbnails view.

I have noticed when playing around with xteq x-setup that it is related to the small icon size but setting that size also messes up other things.
You could do it if you have WindowFX...
There is an option in Desktop Icons, where it says Desktop Icon Mode... And it says Show icons in Tile Mode (Xp-Only)
That's a possible way...
