Hi All - here's some help......(sorry if this has been posted elsewhere)
For those that don't know, it's not too hard to make your favourite 0.8 theme work with 0.9 nearly flawlessly!! Of course any mods you do must be for personal use only and not distributed without the original author's permission (such as Lynchie - hey, I even gave him a little donation last time I was over at his site!!).
After trawling through the Mozilla forums here's a composite step-by-step:
1) Open your 0.8 theme (e.g "oldtheme.jar") with WinRAR
2) Create a new text document entitled "install.txt"
3) Paste the following into your txt file:
<?xml version="1.0"?>;http://www.w3.org/1999/02/22-rdf-syntax-ns#"
xmlns:em=";http://www.mozilla.org/2004/em-rdf#">
{######################}

<!-- Target Application this extension can install into,
with minimum and maximum supported versions. -->

0.8
0.9
<!-- Front End MetaData -->
Enter Name of Skin can be anything
For personal use only
Modded by your name
your name again
nice to enter a homepage of your choice
<!-- Front End Integration Hooks (used by Theme Manager)-->
MUST BE SAME AS NAME IN CONTENTS.RDF!!
Modify the above according to the following notes:
Where I've put {######################}, you need to enter a UUID instead of the dashes. You can get this unique number by going to THIS WEBSITE and copying the UUID number where the #'s are).
You can enter whatever you like in the fields , but the MUST be exactly the same as the chrome:name in the contents.rdf (also located in the theme's .jar file).
4) Save the txt document as "install.rdf"
5) Drag/Add "install.rdf" into the theme's jar file.
6) Find an icon for your theme - any 32x32 PNG will do. Call it "icon.png". Add this into the theme's jar file.
7) Find a PNG picture (the same one you used in Step 6 is fine). Rename it "preview.png". Add this to the jar file.
8) Close the theme's jar file
9) Install into Firefox 0.9 by dragging it into the Themes Manager (found under Tools menu).
10) Click Apply!
11) You may need to restart
Good luck and I hope this is OK with the authors and Mods (remember, for personal use only until the authors update). Also, this theme will not be updatable via 0.9's new easy-update feature. Also, you may experience some weird graphics errors (I lost my theme manager's background - obviously the original 0.8 theme didn't have one!). Your mileage may vary!
:smartass:
Cheers!
