[help] Looking For A Good (free) Cd>mp3 Ripper

Hello fellow A-S'ers,

I am currently looking to convert all my CD collection into MP3's...

Does anybody know one which is decent and free?

I tried musicmatch but its not work too well on my comp....

It does everything you need, I'm sure. Maybe you should check out Ogg too, while you're in the ripping mood. :P

The only software that is said to give better rips than CEex is EAC (Exact Audio Copy > http://www.exactaudiocopy.de/).

The encoding section will be done the same way, but the ripping from CD uses a secure mode to give a 100% accurate rip.

BTW Hydrogen Audio ( http://www.hydrogenaudio.org )has an excellent forum that covers everything audio related... I am sure that you would find a ton of useful information there regarding the best format to rip to for various real world applications.

Guys! All that free MP3 encoders lack of quality! Adjust volume to maximum on your hi-fi system and listen to that crappy sounds... yuck! For my experience, only iTunes 4 or Soundforge with licensed Thompson encoder are excellent. I'm serious. A lot of my friends have yet confirmed this fact

I use iTunes 4.6 - really good and rips nearly all cd's (with a little trick: all) (Trick: make a image from the cd with Alcohol120% and put it in the included virtual-drive - that's it. iTunes was now able to read the data from the image, why ever, it works)
