i started making my own theme and i`m learning VSs by modding some themes and tweaking them to my taste. But i bumped into a problem. When i change the font in stylebuilder it doesn`t change to the right font. for example i change the font to tahoma 8 normal but the font showed and aplied is no where NEAR to tahoma 8. How do i fix it? I`m also confused with the whole SB layout >.

I am learning to use Stylebuilder too, but it seems that
nobody able to use it wants to share his know-how.
The tutorials are few and are of really poor help.
So the only thing I've been able to do is to try, try and try again.
It involves a lot of time, time that I seldom have.
But in effect I've made some significant steps, especially
in bmp and png substitutions. This, believe me, is not so simple
if you want to obtain excellent results with alpha transparency.
Regarding your problem, I have not yet examined deeply this aspect,
but I can suggest to change the font, save, exit and restart. Sometimes
it works.

If someone wrote a tutorial for stylebuilder it would have to be a big book! It is basically a trial and error thing when you first get started but it's very easy to pick up on.
As far as the font problems you are having, there are several areas where you can change fonts for all different aspects of the theme, so your question is very general because you don't state exactly what area or item you are trying to change the font for, you may not be changing it in the correct area.
The stylebuilder layout is very easy to understand, the main areas you will work with the most are the "parts tree" and the "properties" tab just below the preview window. You will also at times find yourself editing the .XML file at times where certain properties aren't present in the theme, you can add them in the .XML file for a particular area.
And as for .bmp versus .png use, windows is very touchy as to what images can be what, to be on the safe side you could use all .bmp's with magic pink transparancy where needed, but after time you will also learn what images can be .png's with smoother transparancy.
Anyway, like I said, it would take forever to write a tutorial on every aspect of stylebuilder, the people who know how to use it are basically self-taught which is usually the best and easiest way to learn anything as far as I'm concerned. But if you have more specific questions the best way is to post your question and use screenshots if possible, that way it's much easier for someone to help out.
