cool, why do you refer them as a steal? were they pretty cheap? they are like 60usd each(normal price) right?

#14098

Well, they weren't exactly a steal persay, but I got them for about $30 off the retail price and they are brand new so I considor that a pretty good buy!

#14100

excellent I would say. I have tested an apple pro mouse, and I really like it more than a Microsoft Intellimouse, I think that the apple mouse has a better optical system, and not forgeting it is actually more good looking than any other mouse out there.

enjoy!

May I know whether you will use it with Mac or Windows?

If in Windows, how are you going to do right-click?

I'm using Apple Pro Mouse too. I do right-click with my right-click simulating program but it is not perfect. How did you solve this?

Thanks!

#14137

they look soooo cool, but i couldn't deal with it. i'm so addicted to my Logitech MX700... there's no way i could only use one button, i have SEVEN on my current mouse.

#14139

Best luck with it, but Apple's latest keyboards and mouse are not considered the best in the industry. When I was using a Mac I could not comprehend how the PC world used a 2 key or 3 key mouse, now that I use a PC I see no beauty or functionality prowess in a single button mouse. The only thing I can say is that the Apple mouse looks cool but not the best in comfort or the most functional. Either way you got a bargain and if you like it more power to you. Enjoy it!

#14140

Yes, it was a bargain. But I dont see it the way some of you see it. I dont care about 5 million buttons. To me the smaller the amount of buttons, the easier and more simplified your computing experience is.

I also love the way the mouse and keyboard feel. They not only look nice, but they feel great and are very functional.

To me no other keyboard or mouse has ever felt the way these do. If you haven't tried them, please do yourself the favor! ;)

in quake3, my mouse config...

left button: fire

right button: jump

middle button (wheel): plasma gun

WHEEL UP: railgun

WHEEL DOWN: rocket launcher

apple mouse is defenetly not for me :D

I love apple keyboard they are sweet I still have an IBM rapid Access 2 the only reason why I don't change it is because right above the right and left arrow keys there are 2 keys, which are used to go back and forth in webpages which I haven't found in any other keyboard... I just can't leave without them, I tried getting used to the mouse gestures in Phoenix but I always go back to this 2 keys.

Dear Jmitch,

May I know how you do right-click in windows with the Apple Pro Mouse? Thanks!

Oh yes sorry. I forgot to include that in my post! ;)

The answer is I dont use right-click with the Apple Mouse. There is no need for it when I am just going about my daily business and using my computer. Everything that can be accessed via right-click can be accessed through some other method without right-clicking.

Plus, I am not going to throw away my intellimouse. When I am fixing problems with my PC or doing maintenance things or whatever than I will use the intellimouse for speedy use. But when I am just using my PC as a Mac, which will be most of the time, theres no need for the right click!! :D

Wow!!!

I have to say ADMIRE!

I can't do a lot of things without right-click. Even OSX has some kind of right-click support. BTW, I got chance to use iBook in IKEA today, and I found the Dock was not as smooth as ObjectDock. Haha.

Yea, good job JMitch!! I bought a black pro mouse off of eBay for $40 with shipping so that was definitely the way to go. I wish I had a prog so I could use the mouse all of the time, like pushing the ctrl or alt key and click will bring up the right click menu, that would be sweet. Someone on these boards said they had one or were going to make one, but haven't seen it. Anyways good job on the combo and hope you like them!!

#14300

is it really good?

can it really impress me to switch from my logitech cordless elite duo? hehe, btw, i love apple keyboard design, it looks so nice!

do they come in cordless versions yet? and with the mouse, do they come in 2 button or scroll versions?

Hi clotz2000,

I HAVE made such a program. Please download it from http://www.comp.nus.edu.sg/~leilei/iMouse.zip

It gives you the way to click and hold to activate right-click function, or to press and hold Capslock then click mouse to activate right-click function.

Please read readme.txt for usage. :)

Q1: Is there an Apple mouse with a scrolling wheel?

Q2: A friend of mine has a Mac. Can she simulate command click or something with a 2-button mouse?

Have a nice day!

A1. The Apple Pro Mouse from Apple does NOT have a scrolling wheel nor a right-button. It has only one-button function (and it doesn't physically have a button!). But there are mice from other companies that have two buttons with a scrolling wheel.

A2. Did you mean whether she can use a 2-button mouse with Mac? The answer is Yes if she uses a 2-button USB mouse for her Mac.

Hey guys, here is a link to 'applemouse', a program someone wrote that lets you use ctrl + mouse click for right click. I use an Apple mouse with it and it works really well. I personally hope Apple comes up with a 2-button mouse, while keeping it stylish and sleek. I really do prefer doing a right-click with the mouse.

Enjoy, http://www.geocities.com/pronto4u/applemouse.html

I agree that it's a great piece of software, but how about when you want to press Ctrl and then click to select multiple files? That's why I didn't use Ctrl to activate right-click in my program.

And what's more, with my program you can also use only one hand to use the mouse, which is you can press and hold the mouse for 0.3 seconds to activate the right-click.

:)

My program is at http://www.comp.nus.edu.sg/~leilei/iMouse.zip

Hi Telmo. I would probably use the intellimouse for certain games like that also because with those games the scroll wheel is just handy to have!

:) In Quake3, my config is:

Mouse click: fire

WSAD: Forward, Backward, StrafeLeft, StrafeRight.

QE: PreviousWeapon, NextWeapon.

Space: Jump.

So everything is settled down. :D
