[question] Changing Sys Icons

Hi everyone,

Maybe this question has already been asked but I can't find any clue,

1st how to change the System preference icons and

2nd how to associate a special icons to a kind of files.

I bought both Candybar and pixadex and these work very fine except for my two previous request.

Anyway thanks in advance.

answer to question 1:

You have to change the ownership/permissions on Syspref.app. Select it and Get Info, you'll know where to go from there :).

I would like to know the answer to the second question as well.

Find out what App "supplies" the icon to the file and replace that Application's resource icon (the one you wish to change) to whatever one you want. (It will need to be a proper ICNS file).

Ok here I go to change the icons :

If it's dreamweaver who give the file the icon (dreaweaver set as the default apps for the file) I do this:

1 - Go to apps folder

2 - Select dreamweaver

3 - Ctrl+clic or right click and choose show package content

4 - look for a resource folder in the new opened window.

5 - Replace the appropriate icns file.

Note: I use pixadex to create cns file from icons (select icon > file > export > icns)
