It just occured to me the other day that we all have a specific set of
midifications that we do to windows and that's that. We hardly ever go
beyond those mods and we get stuck. All we can do is change around
what we allready have. So I thought maybe you could all post ideas
of what new mods we could make and what people would really like to
see changed. Just to give people something to do 
perhaps you could start us off ifido.
godpunk used to show pics of his modded ibook cover, people are constantly showing off their pc case mods, mobile telephone mods (case and gui skins), we've seen pages devoted to even creating a G5 cube from scratch, not to mention all the software mods / skins (barring certain apps which are more or less unskinnable) and software creations by the talented developers here.
in addition to these topics what else can be modded within the scope / subject matter of this forum?
Yeah But I kind of meant software mods. Hardware mods are cool to.
(Maybe we should start a new thread for it ?). You know, we mod finder,
bootscreens visual styles wallls About boxes And the ocasional
personalized extra mod which one out of five million people will do. We
need something new !!!

Does anyone have all 3-d party application mods e.g. Picasa, WinRAR, Outlook etc, widgets, VStyles? I think we've still got a looong way to go.
Alright, maybe I didn't really express myself clearly enough.
What I ment was that we should start using our imagination a bit more. All we
do is use apps and Visual Styles that other people have made and stick our
hands out begging for more. We hardly ever creat anything ourselves
except for the original wallpaper and the "once-in-six-months" VS.

For your information, iFido, Aqua-Soft is one of the most original skinning communities out there. Many of our artists not only make 100% original Visual Styles, but also System .DLLs (Shell32), Icons (tons of original icons), Applications (look at all those developer forums...), Widgets (got samurize?), skins/themes (for pretty much every program you can think of). I know I'm forgetting a lot more, but I think you get the general idea. So next time, before you decide to tell me that Aqua-Soft needs to broaden it's scope of theming possibilities, tell this to yourself: AQUA-SOFT DOES IT ALL.

I'm not saying that aqua-soft isn't original. As you say, everyone
makes visual styles, wallpapers etc. And that's it. Were allways making
the same type of thing. We never invent anything new. Were always
doing a something for something that already exists.
Well, what else is there to mod? There's a point where you just have to stop, or where you start sacrificing usability for looks. I personally will only feel content once I buy a Mac.
That said, I would like to mod:
The BIOS (but I know I'm not going to because it's pretty stupid),
My startup screen so it looks more Mac Like (with the circle animation), which I'm fairly sure is impossible
My Start menu bar (I don't have ObjectBar, and I don't want to pay for it)
...And that's about it!

How about give a hint about what you are thinking.
You do know that "mod" is short for "modify"? 
There isn't much else to mod unless you try out alternate shells and work on those.
I suggest you have a look around Virtual Plastic and the accompanying message board to see if you like anything.
Or look at the Wint's Mods site to see if anything looks interesting to you.
If you want to stick to emulating the Macintosh look, there isn't much else to do unless you revamp the entire interface.
Again, give us a hint of what you are looking for other than just "something new." :pokey:
