How to change icons in mac os dock ? Is it possiblle ?
[question] Changing Icons In Mac Os Dock ?
You'd change the applications icon (or the object's). This is super easy to do, whatever Application (or whatever file!) icon, just press Cmd+I (for Get Info) and click on the Icon (at the top of the information window).
Now Get Info on the icon you wish to change it to (this only really works for icons that have.. Their icon.. As their.. Icon.. If you catch my drift). Click on that icon in the Get Info window, copy (Cmd+C) and then focus the App's Get Info window and paste (Cmd+V). Voila. The icon has been changed.
Of course if you want to change the icon past that, Show Package Contents and shove a replacement ICNS file (should be obvious which one (in the Resources folder)).
I hope I didn't just confuse the hell out of you.. Er..

Ok i've opened the Applications in Finder, Ctrl+ Left Mouse Click ( Using PearPC ) the Get Info appeared now what should i do ? When i press the preview icon the the Opera starts.
Click on that icon in the Get Info window, copy (Cmd+C) and then focus the App's Get Info window and paste (Cmd+V). Voila. The icon has been changed.
I don't get it
You mean the small icon under General ? Sorry english is not my native language.

No no, the icon at the TOP, not the Preview icon. By the application's name.
Once you click it it will glow blue (to show you've selected it), you can then copy-paste it over another file's icon.

Ok i get it now. One more question it should be .icns or i can use .png too ?
.icns only.
if you want to convert get the freeware 'iconverter' (versiontracker, macupdate).
also pixadex by the iconfactory is a pretty handy app which enables drag and drop to change icons, plus does some handy conversions and doubles as an organizer.

I see. Thanks for the tips guys.
No no, you can use PNGs too. Download Pic2Icon (from Version Tracker), it changes a PNG's contents to it's icon. That's the fastest way to change an icon. So then you can do the Copy-Paste method above.
well, if it changes a png's contents, it's not very much a PNG anymore, is it fat boy? ![]()
ugh... i should stop posting in the mac forum >_<

Sorry I meant CONTENTS to it's ICON. So a PNG "X" once thrown onto Pic2Icon will make the PNG file's icon the X.
Makes it super easy to change icons.. ![]()
