Im running a home network and the damn microsoft firewall is just.. featureless.
So, I was wondering if there were any free firewall products that you guys know of.
Thanks

Another vote for Kerio.
If you can find an old PC (like 75MHz or even slower!) then get smoothwall running!
well if you have a router....with a built in firewall [ most of them do ] you dont need a program that just uses precious cpu.

True, unless you like to have the extra control that software firewalls provide.
My Router: Linksys BEFSX41

Thanks for your help guys, I actually had no idea my linksys router had a firewall. Thanks ![]()
ZoneAlarm Pro is by far the best software firewall out there.
And doesn't eat a ton of CPU... in fact it has used a whole whopping 8 seconds of total CPU time all day long.
I use both Hardware and Software for my Firewall.
Ain't nobody getting in without me knowing it.
Go to grc.com and run a shields up test against your system.
Took a bit of tweaking, but I am now running a true stealth system.
All unsolicited inbound packets go straight to the bit bucket.
They don't even get the dignity of being responded too.
So even if you had my IP address, you would still not know I was there unless my PC initiates the request first.
