Ok so I was working on my old computer last night and I shut it down perfectly. Today morning when I started it, it booted up to the XP logon screen and as I tried to type my password, I found that the keyboard doesn't work anymore. I tried to reconnect the USB keyboard connector on the back to see if a loose connection was causing the problem. Booted back into Windows, still no go. I restarted the computer once again and hit 'Del' to go into the BIOS and to my surprise the keyboard worked and in the BIOS menu all keys worked just fine. I tried going into Windows and the keyboard didn't work.
Figured maybe Windows f*cked up and did a reinstall. During reinstall when it asked me to type my name, key, time zone etc the keyboard worked perfectly. Install completed successfully and it tried to boot into Windows. After the Windows XP boot screen came up and the progress bar did its thing, the screen went blank as if it was going into the logon screen but then my monitor light started flashing as if it went into Standby mode. About 10 seconds later the computer restarted automatically. I tried booting into Windows again...no go. I did another clean format and re-install. Still the same thing.
Can someone please tell me what the hell is going on?
