[help] Ipod Auto-update Feature In Itunes

Hello thar Aqua-Softians, I need to know how to disable iTunes' stupid auto-update feature without connecting my iPod so when I connect it, all the songs don't get deleted (the first time I connected my iPod after updating to a new verson of iTunes, the auto-update setting was apparently on by default and all the music got erased).

I'm on another computer until I get around to formatting my HD, so that's why the auto-update setting hasn't been disabled yet--I haven't used my iPod on this computer (the only way I know of to disable it is to connect the Pod->iPod settings button on the bottom).

I think you have to have your iPod connected to see those options. I remember changing it, but I had already plugged my iPod into it.

However, I can't step you through it, because iTunes said I need to re-install because it didn't install the software for the iPod .

the only way i know of is via the iPod options button but u allready know about that

my only advice is to be fast

anyway i don`t think auto update option is on my default (unless ur freind has an iPod and has enabled the option in his/her iPod)

You know what, I asked someone in RL, and it doesn't seem to be on by default in v4.5.

But now when I connected my iPod, iTunes said the software/firmware in my iPod was outdated and needed to be upgraded form apple.com (and consequently wouldn't show up in iTunes)...which is total bs, but I guess I'll reinstall the iPod software anyway >.< .

If you're talking about "ipodupdate20040428blablabla" then you might feel a little better knowing that when I updated mine (3rdGen 20Gig) it did not get wiped out. I only use it for songs and notes, but the notes did get deleted... so, you might end up getting away with all of your songs
