[help] Can't Log Into Windows

Here it goes...:o

  • I booted my b0x0r today and started logging in when I got an error message that said that I needed to activate Windows, click ok to activate it.

  • I selected OK, but no activate Windows box popped up...I already activated it almost a year ago. My system hung for a while until I finally decided to reboot (manually, as explorer wasn't running-- no GUI).

  • Next time I tried to log in it said there weren't enough system resources to load my user settings/junk--and it also said there wasn't enough paging file memory I think--so it logged me in as the default system somethignoranother (admin) (or something like that), but explorer didn't run (as there was no GUI), and nothing else would run (i.e. task manager-- by CTRL+ALT+DEL)

  • The next next time ( :P ) I got the not enough recources dealie, but I didn't log into the admin account or whatever--just went back to the logon screen.

I've since tried booting and logging in again, booting from last known good configuration, booting to safe mode, and finally repairing Windows. !Ayudame!

PS: It's definitely time to reformat...but I can't until I can get all my junk backed up

//thanks :)

My suugestion use another hard drive and take a look at your drive with the issues.

If everything looks fine then simply copy all your impprtant files (if you ahve anything that you want to keep) and put them on the other dirve. Turn off your pc. discunect the drvie with the back-ups and turn your pc on. If you get the same thing then just re-install. That is what I would do if there is no solution. ;)

I have no other hard drive to use exept a laptop HD...and vice versa (no other computer to use my HD...execpt a laptop--which I'm on now btw) :P

I really don't think that would work anyway...thx though...

PS: You don't have to quote the only fscking post in a thread...especially one that takes up half the screen@1024x768 :P;)

I am the king of this one... I have had to format and reinstall a milion times. I have just the solution.

(I will asume that your laptop has a cd burner a nic card, and that you have the two computers networked.)

Go to http://www.nu2.nu/pebuilder/ and download, and build a bootable windows cd which you will have to read, and configure. You will be able to load network drivers and setting, which will let you backup up important data to your laptop, (if you have the space).

Now the lecture:

being a member of this forum, I will aso asume that you have made alot of custom modifications to you windows environment. Microsoft doesn't care if you screw it up, nor will they help you. So the most important thing you shold always do is?....

...that's righ. BACK UP YOUR DATA.

good luck, and if I can be of any help, let me know

Aaaah, thanks. I'll get right on that, backup, and reformat...after I get back from the beach :D

lol, I decided to have another go at it today. This time I was able to boot and log on, but CPU usage is at 100%--my system is totally [insert word I can't think of here]. I've come to the conclusion that I have the sasser worm...in spite of intalling the patch from [somewhere] and having a firewall running. -_-

/me goes and looks for ways to remove the worm
