i'd like to control my own thread as well. i'm pretty sure that in ipb you can have the members: close their own thread, edit topic title, and delete their own thread. i wish we had those options. //me wishes

I don't think it is important that every member has that right. Not even the mods don't delete threads now (they send them into the Trash forum).
And if it where enabled then we would have alot of immature members, create them then deleting them at thier own will and would get out of hand.
It's fine the way it is.
Edit: If all those powers where given to us, then total chaos would arise. Do you know haw many pranks can be pulled when you can change you thread title? It also takes alot of power away from the Mods, and I do believe that only a few select should have that kind of power.

Renaming our own thread couldn't do much harm though.... How many times have you seen "oh! i forgot to add the [...] tag..... some mod please please add it for me!"?
how many times have we seen a preview thread topped more than the release too
if we had the ability to edit at least are own threads we could change that too..

But then I would have to argue that people should take more time to post a thread. I know that mistakes happen, but that is a type of power that can easily be abused. Especially in General Discussion. People should not be in such of a hurry to post a thread. Slow down, take a deep breath and read over everything.
Remember Duckie's renamed to "Chocolate or Vanilla" thread (I forget what it was before)? Do you know how common that could be if every casual member had the power to change thread titles?
Hopefully this will change when/IF the new rules come out and the thread posting is tweaked a little.
But I don't think it's something that we need, it's more of something that people want.

Agreed. Giving members the right to delete their own threads only causes chaos. I've seen it happen. If you are so worried about your post, read it once carefully before hitting the 'Post New Topic' button.
EDIT:
Oh and btw the "Oh I forgot to add a tag, could some mod add it for me?" will soon be a thing of the past because once the new rules come into effect tags will become mandatory when posting a new topic.
i can think of one thing that can go wrong, a stupid little nub, constantly removing tags from theyre thread after a mod adds them, i dont know, but it could happen
plus, this is the whole reason we have mods. people, you should just use that "*ASCheck*" thingy
