Community Challange - Remake My Desktop!

I'm getting tired of my desktop:

Other than a wallpaper change and the additional icon switch. this GUI has been the same for the past 6-8 months. System icons=same. Visual Style=same. Browser=same. Toolbars=same. Etc, etc...

I want the community to remake my desktop!

Here's the guidelines:

1.) submit thumbnails like you would the monthly desktop thread.

2.) nothing even close to nudity or obscene will be accepted - I have 3 kids running around my desk all day.

3.) the look must be professional

4.) Youve got to make the required files available if I choose your suggestion - otherwise this is pointless.

5.) you get nothing from this other than my stamp of approval.

6.) no stardock stuff. theyre a decent enough company, but I just bought a house...another yearly online subscription might lead to a nervous breakdown.

7.) Browser has to be Mozilla or Firefox based. I hate other browsers.

I can't give you suggestions for a full desktop but.

Icons,

World of Aqua (1st set, use the trash, and some of the app like icons)

World of Aqua Rev 2 Drives (perfect for hd icons)

World of Aqua Rev 2 (perfect for folders)

Then you got a somewhat usable desktop oldie :lol:

Hahaha, I remember you from my lurker days. Anyway, I can personally reccomend StyleSuites.com for cool icons and wallpapers and stuff. The admins there are really nice :lol:

No, see, people, DZ doesn't want you to suggest icons and wallpapers and stuff to him, he wants you to completely mod out your own desktop in a style you think he'll like, take a screenshot, post it here, and if he likes it, then you have to give him everything you used to make the desktop look the way it does (or at least tell him where on the web to get the stuff). And then, he'll give you his "stamp of approval", since you did such a good job.

Now, I admit, DZ's a pretty cool guy, and I respect all he's done for A-S, but I think if this thread were started by anyone else, say a new person to the forums for example, mods would have closed the thread, saying "Search yourself, figure out on your own what you like, and mod your own dang desktop."

Lol the reason I said that is because deadzombie is one of the 4 founders of Aqua-Soft along with CyCoPath, Drakon and a fourth member whose name eludes me at the moment. Yes that's right, he created Aqua-Soft.

You may have joined the community on 20th April 2003, just one day after he 'registered for an account', but this isn't the first Aqua-Soft board unlike many people here think. Aqua-Soft has failed several times including a couple of massive crashes which resulted in the loss of the whole database....i.e. all the user accounts, forum threads, everything gone and we had to start from scratch.

I've been a member at Aqua-Soft through 4 such board crashes (I think I've been here at A-S since 1999). There may have been many more and deadzombie has seen Aqua-Soft grow right from when it was just an idea and that was very many years back. That's why we all laughed at your comment just because it was just so ludicrous.

Sorry....no harm meant at all and I'm sure dz means no harm either.

Timan! I needed Rich's contact info...which I was able to finally get. TwistedCPU got a massive upgrade yesterday, to over 2Gb of storage and around 75Gb monthly transfer. Sorry if I didn't stay on long, it was an emergency situation.

I dont like moby dock at all. I can get you some ported mac icons (pixel feng shui, googie, orchestra, anything else that strikes your fancy)

This is my desktop, I really didnt change anything, just opened apps that I have never really showed before in my screens. I will explain:

VS: Postmod

Wall: Here

Power DVD Skin: Cant find it, made by aquagirl

Thunderbird Mail: Skin here

Firefox: Tutorial here

The icons

Pixel Feng Shui: Here

Rename the file to [filename].sit (open a folder, go to Tools>Folder Options>View Tab>Uncheck "Hide extensions for known file types")

Download stuffit expander

Open the renamed archive and extract each icon to a folder (you MUST do it one by one)

For the desktop icons, it is samurize. I may be releasing my config along with the ported weather config on my desk if I get permission.

I see why no one else has done this yet, it's a lot of work! By the way, that tutorial is useful for opening all archives that are in some wierd binary (the renaming file extension thing). Feel free to use it everyone! Hope this helps you out DZ.
