I have seen very nice PDA's lately running WindowsOS but I'm not sold on being an item that is worth the high price of most PDA's. I rather see the development of a PDA that can take 2Megapixel pictures act as a radio a MP3 player plus the common PDA features at no bigger than an iPod before I spend over $300 .
The other danger of PDA is that it can easily break or you can loose your data. What do you guys think? Is it really worth spending over $300 for a PDA ?

Not bad. Not really a big pda fan myself but not bad. 
i would rather have a laptop over a PDA any day. yeah they are biggger but they are getting smaller everyday. the new powerbook and ibook are great examples. you can do all the same stuff as a PDA and more. if i was goin to pay 300 bucks for a PDA i would save it for an ibook.
also as a youth pastor its nice to have all the functionality avalable while on the road or in a hotel room and a nice dvd player for on the road as well.

what i dislike about dell in general, is that they stick their logo in every place possible, like shuv it into yet face in any way.
problem is , their logo sux .. yeah, my pc is dell.. and i cannot avoid the logo in the 2 second boot. I because of that, wont get their stuff in the future (same thing goes for gateway).
Apple does spread their logos around a lot, but its obviously better looking and it is never ever appearing 3 times on one device like the one on the image posted above.

I would have to agree with you there. I hate those big name pc vendors like Dell, Gateway, and HP. I hate them all. They dont do anything! They buy parts from some other chip manufacturer, throw them together in cases with their name and logo slapped on the case, and they call it a Dell or a Gateway.
The worse yet, they grab 100,000 copies or so of Windows and use that as their operating system. Peh! I spit on it!
This is the whole reason why PC's suck. Chips and boards from all sorts of companies everywhere are just thrown together, then on top of that they slap a generic operating system that ironicly BLOWS!!!
All this combined makes for the worst, most unreliable computers. There are driver problems galore as you have all experienced with finding the right drivers and then making sure they are compatible and all that ****!
Apple is a whole different story! Notice how you have never heard of driver problems on Macs or a number of problems we all experience with pc's??? The reason is quite obvious. Macs hardware, software, and operating system are all creating, manufactured, and designed by Apple and only Apple. This is what makes Apple computers SOOOO much more reliable then PC's. Everythings neatly created and organized by one company.
So when you call Apple with a problem. They wont direct you to 5 different other companies blaming the problem on them. Because the computer is made entirely by Apple and not 10 different companies that make various computer components. When you call Apple for support, they either fix your problem or you send in your computer and they ship it back good as new. This has been my experience with Apple.

Agreed! I custom build all of my PC's from the ground up. I would never, ever buy a pre-built PC. I choose all my components down to the last wire and have never had a problem. They were nothing more than electronic date books. I was happy with my $5.00 paper date book. But these current generation PDA's can actually do a whole hell of a lot. You'd really be amazed at how many apps are out for these things. I have a laptop also, most of the time I just don't feel like lugging it around and I just want something I can keep in my pocket. I amazed all the people at work when I played them a XXX porn movie in full-color and sound with Windows Media player on this tiny little thing. Amazing indeed :-)
I dont mind having a name on my computer. But then again, I dont mind having an ugly case either. I care more about power (not that you shouldnt care about esthetics).
The reason apple can have a perfectly integrated operating system/computer is because Macs have a total of like TWO graphics cards, one processor, etc etc. Lets see apple try to make 95% of the market happy, it cant be done. Thats the irony of it. If you get to big, you cant be personal anymore. If microsoft only had 2% of the market to make happy (and mac lovers arent hard to make happy) they could do it.
And the Dell logo is only on the PDA twice. The third is on the charger. 
Just an FYI... but, Apple does not make all the hardware in their computers.
1. Motorola makes the CPU... soon to be IBM. Power4 CPU... Can't wait!
2. ATI or NVIDIA make the graphics cards.
3. They use of the shelf "PC" memory.
4. They use of the shelf "PC" IDE hard drives. Mostly manufactured by IBM.
5. They use off the shelf CD drives... with the exclusion of the SuperDrive.
6. The Airport cards are made by Linksys. Crack one open and take a gander.
7. The Modems are made by 3COM.
About the only thing they actually make are the motherboard, with some help from Motorola and ST Micro, and the cases.
As for PDA's... can't stand them.
They are outdated faster than PC's are and cost way too much for what you get.

Wow... it's been almost an hour since I made my last post, and not one comment/flame.
People must be sleeping or something.
Most of the time people get hammered pretty quick when they make any sort of non-pro-apple statement.
My Pocket PC is pretty snappy. The freakin' thing has a 400Mhz Intel XScale CPU. Not too long ago we were all using 400Mhz cpu's in out PC's. I'm sure some of you still are. :-)
I don't have an Apple, but I am all for the little guy. I would have one myself if 1.) They were not so damn expensive and 2.) There was a better selection of software titles.
rjohnstone: I agree with you. Apple doesnt make their own parts, but they know everything about them, since they dont have a huge product line to keep track of.
I dont like PDAs either. I need a keyboard, and they just arent powerful enough for me. But im not a bussness type, so I dont need a Datebook/calender/address book.
Oh yeah, and let's not forget the aftermarket device level for Mac is a tiny fraction of what it is on the PC. Of course you don't see the same level of driver problems because there's hardly anything out there (relatively speaking) so lets not hear so much nonsense about Apples 'superiority'. It's a very closed system and damn well should have a lot less problems in that department. By the same token you lose the PC's greatest attribute.. ultimate flexibility.
Apples are overpriced lego sets with nicer colors but fewer pieces. I'd rather have the huge lego set I already have. Besides, there still isn't an Mac out there that looks as cool as my custom PC, I also doubt any of them are faster either.
Nuff said.
