Folding@home

I was surfing and was surprised to come across such a large community of people skinning XP to look like MacOSX. I think what you are doing is wonderful and very creative. I am part of a team of Mac users who contribute to the Folding@Home project. Folding@Home is a distributed computing project which tests how proteins fold.

When proteins do not fold correctly (i.e. "misfold"), there can be serious effects, including many well known diseases, such as Alzheimer's, Mad Cow (BSE), CJD, ALS, and Parkinson's disease.

TeamMacOSX is the #1 Mac folding team. We use Macs and pc's for folding.

Hardly medical weekly. I used to contribute to the SETI project but found the Folding@home distributed computing project to be more down to earth and worthwhile. It is for a good cause and your computer in most cases sits idle for most of its life. Why not contribute to medical research when you aren't using it? The work your computer contributes may help you some day if you get one of the horrible diseases being studied.

There is a points system and teams to join. There is competition between teams and individuals. Our team is actively working to recruit new members. Our team/community is very friendly and knowledgeable. There may be interest among our members in what you do with skinning. There may be some who could contribute to your project also. I saw one thread about a folder here who wanted a skin for Electron Microscope (a folding monitor program for winxp). This community seemed like a great group of people and I thought there may be some interest here.

Already do F@H when I sleep (which is also when I leave Acquisition to try and download more stuff on list).

If you leave your machine on overnight, why not give it a try and do something constructive..

I was folding for a time for FutureMark team... but, anyway, maybe i come back... maybe we can create the AquaSoft Folding Team. What do you think?
