[release] Another Panther Alt+tab

Hi,

here is the task switcher I mentioned yesterday. Thanks to FeAt for allowing me to release it.

I made it in just one day, so it may be quite buggy.

***installation

Unzip it anywhere you want.

*** How to use it

1. Just double-click the program and it will go into the system tray.

2. Hit alt+tab and you will see the task switcher. All the explorer instances are called finder and I define some other frequently used programs in the "switcher.ini" file.

3. Some programs may have ugly windows default icons and strange names like ***.dll or ***.ocx. Define the labels and icons in "switcher.ini" if you want.

4. You can exclude some programs from appearing in the task list by adding it under [exclusion] section of "switcher.ini"

5. If you want to quit the program, just right click on the system tray icon.

If you run it from NeXplorer, it will not read the .ini file correctly.

Absolutly amazing, stunning, its awsome!!! very fast and nice!

edit: one thing i noticed is with some programs.. it shows the dll of it in the switcher.. like windows media player.. it has wmp.dll and it doesnt switch to wmp

I have a couple suggestions if i may.

Suggestions:

- be able to define the fonts in the app

- having a control panel type of thing. (settings window i guess)

- Not focusing on specific windows, just the application. For example, IE (no matter how many windows) should be just one icon representing the APP IE being open. Same with MSN, being one icon, for numerous windows.)

BUGS:

- It doesn't seem to always stay on top

- The text displaying what application you want to go to is not centered but is left justified... should be centered.

- Even with exclusion list, SYSTEM32.dll seems to be up and running none the less.

HOWEVER, it does use up little memory and is very clean.

SO yeah, don't mean to discourage, however simply want to test this application and hope others share their experience with it and how it works for them, so that you can make improvements

Sorry to disappoint you guys but this is just a toy program I made quickly so there will not be much more updates.

Maybe some bug fixes but that's all.

Definitely no control panel nor font selection

For full-fledged panther style alt+tab , just wait for FeAt's next release.

its not working for me . I hit alt+tab and the default xp switcher comes up instead.

Thanks for this release vneumann, a huge improvement over the default Windows XP alt-tab switcher!

I just noticed that when AvePreview is open it appears as multiple instances of the various components that make up the window... does anyone have a work-around solution?

Ah, forgot about the exclusion thingy, for some reason I only thought of ObjectBar and such for that part Thanks mimeryme

If you want to exclude something that the program displays, put it in the exclusion list as shown by the program. Syntax counts.

I noticed that Alt+Shift+Tab shows Window's own instead.

Same here...it only shows the default switcher.

What's the solution to this?

It's working great for me... make sure it's running in the system tray? It only works on XP too, I tried it on one of my 2K boxes and it doesn't work at all, I get a mess of errors.

i got it working now After a restart but for some reason it shows multiple avetext icons instead of one .

Hold your mouse over one of them - it should go away. It did for me, anyway.

nope. they are still there. I have one avetext open and the switcher show about 6 icons :blink:

I mentioned this above, but instead of constantly editing my post I'd post a new one with specifics relating to AvePreview:

These are the multiple instances of the exe file:

How would I go about specifying the exlcusion of them, they're all the same instance of the file, just a different label?

Similar situation for FontBook as well...

Looks great!

Only problem I have is that the original alt-tab still shows up when I hold down shift (to cycle through in reverse).

Mine is not working anymore . Its frozen all the time. I can switch between application but other than that nothing happens
