is it possible to mod the start menu to display the mac drop down menus by using regedit or something and just changing a bunch of **** to redirect to certian areas and have the progs just go to one of the drop down menus! if so would ny1 knw how!

You see what youe saying may sound possible, but if it is can you imagine how mlong you would take modifing the registry to get ti the way the mac's is.
- And now that I think about it it i'sn't possible cause The registry doesn't make up the start menu. Windows actually has several places were it's resources lie. Most are .dll's so good luck findig them!

Cause I'm not working my ass off to find .dll's. There are at least 400 in the entire system so!, If someone tells me were all of them are then I'll work on it. I'm serios!

Haha, you guys are funny. And what exactly are you looking for? Do you even know? Just opening up random .dll files will get you nowhere, and no, editing the taskbar to that extent is *probably* not possible. Good luck though...
A.) The Taskbar appearance is controlled by the theme you are using.
B.) The Startbar isn't a standard dialog or menu system so it is highly unlikely you'll even find it.
C.) Even if you do find it you wont be able to edit it enough to actually do what you want with it. It would be easier to actually create a replacement than it would to try and rewrite windows for that feature. (Just get Objectbar it isn't that expensive considering how flexible it is).

And I belive it is possible cause when I did my Right-Click menu mod I noticed that XP uses lots of text to make up for what you see. Most of those things are editable, if found.
Only issue is that most people don't waste thier time cause thier is lots to do, and the results are minor. But when I had time time to burn I decided to do something that would take a long time. So It must be possible. And if it is I'm the one to do it!

I'm not sure. I remember it's possible to change what the Start buttons says though a DLL or regEdit or something. I suppose you could change it to say File, Program, etc. Of course, they wouldn't actually do anything, but it would look OK. Err....that's all I can think of..

In renaming the Start button, you can only use up to five characters, I believe. That's only in Win2K and below unless you're using the Classic instead of visual styles. XP just uses a bitmap for the entire button.
You'd be better off faking it with some kind of active desktop pull-down menu system.
It won't auto-update to anything though.
I've never created any AD setups but I've seen some amazing examples.
You'd probably be better off with Objectbar though. Tasks, tray, clock, etc all included easily.
not that hard to change it form a bimp to text lol
I'd also like to point out that SP2 is just around the corner which is guaranteed to have the file your editing changed (and possibly rebuilt using .net instead of WinPE). I won't deny it's worth a look but when there are programs out there that have been built to do this, I don't see the point in going all that way to edit a file that gets replaced almost every update XP gets.
