Would it be possible for the mods to have a bit of a clampdown on oversized sigs? I don't know what the maximum size is, but the ones here, here and here, ooh, and here too are just plain daft.
I realise you are all over worked and underpaid, but there's getting to be some irritatingly large sigs about.
Some people have had large sigs for a looong time... that's why I turned them of so long ago. *nod*
We're going to have a crack-down on this sort of thing when we announce the new rules...
The size limit will be 500px wide by 100 high, for images, text, or anything else people may find to put in there...
thanks for the replies. I would turn viewing them off, but I like following the links to peoples dev art pages and other bits and bobs.

That's the only one out of all of those that I actually mind. It almost takes up half the screen at 1024 on my laptop haha.
I think it should be limited to 3 lines of text and thats it..

Why should I explain myself? We are a group of graphic designers. Saying that we should get rid of graphics in signatures is a stupid thing to do. Who wants every sig to be entirely made of text. It's boring and repetitive. If you don't want to see images then freakin' turn them off. You have that freedom here. But don't take it away from others because you don't like it.
Wait for the new rules? That's all Steve says these days.
When I see people with really big sigs, I usually PM them, but I haven't really been irritated by the above linked.
But they are too big. Would everyone who was linked to in the first post please decrese the size of their sigs (I generally use my sig as the maximum size 
).
If they don't change their sigs in a few days, I'll take appropriate action.
You can PM me if there are any more big sigs you see.
The thing is, contra, that even when by your criteria (and all of us in this thread) the sigs are to big, they werenot noticed of a max sig size, were they? there isnt a statement that says so. Whith the new rules, however, -which are almost done- there is a foundation in writing that actually states: "you cannot have a sig wider than 500pixels and higher than 100". Written rules are things to be followed. The rest are just efimerities that can be considered as nothing BUT abuse of power.
@Ibanezcollector: your sig was bigger than 3 lines of text this morning, need i remind you? 
. I think it is just crazy to not allow graphic sigs, Aqua-Soft and all the customizing community revolves around graphics...
Ibanez doesn't really hate sigs, he just thinks he does. Signitures are exactly that - they define the poster, gives the poster a face in a way. I don't usually look at the user name, just the sig. Which is why when Seph changed his old sig to this new fangled one I got whacked out for a few weeks.

As far as I am concerned, text sig's are alright unless they are filled with worthless crap.
Image signatures on the other hand are a nightmare for 56K'ers as most of them are too big.
Seriously, I can do an image signature at 500x50 pixels and still do a good image sig (except on my current one which has a bit of a mistake. It will change when I get my iBook).
BTW. Here is a link to a signature type I hate and find useless. ie. The dynamic-signatures.
The new rules will have guidelines like...
450x100 px,
Images no larger than 15kb,
And if its a text sig, no more than 6 lines of text.

Sounds far except for the 450x100px limit. I thought that it was agreed (from the previous dicussion on this matter and Seph's post) that the image size would be 500x100px.
No offense but these people with 500px sigs, half the time its the same thing stretched just to be 500px. So 450px is perfectly fine, because there is no need to have it that wide.
