[question] About Monitors

OK at this moment I have a good screen, but its dieing fast. This screen is from 1992 and can hold 100 FPS at 1024x768, not bad for such an old screen.

Im a gamer, and a very addicted one, however I want to buy a good LCD screen, dunno how much FT, but I heard that LCD screens arent good for Gaming, and Ive seen some, and none that Ive seen can have 100 FPS at 1024x768....

Soo I Plea ya guys

Advise me whats the best type of Monitor, something like this

Type of Monitor: LCD/Non LCD

'TF: 15/17/or 19

If you are a hardcore gamer, don't buy LCD. Get some decent 19" CRT, like Samsung 957MB (I have it and I love it) or something from NEC or ViewSonic. It's really not worth to buy a LCD for gaming. You can't switch resolutions easily +LCDs support only 16bit color depth which sucks in comparison with CRT 32bit.

Urban legend. Literally every LCD supports 32 bits now.

Would Apple kick professional designers (largest group of Mac users) with LCDs if they weren't competitive?

i've never heard of LCD's not supporting 32 bit these days. I play games on mine too and have never had any problems (ie, ghosting and such; this only applies to the very first LCD's that were available).

If you go for an LCD, i'd recommend NEC but Sony and Samsung are good too.

So tell me, do LCDs have the same color depth as CRTs? I doubt that, I read some computer magazine yesterday and it was said that LCDs don't show as many colours as CRTs. Who should I believe now? :cry:

Eeehhh, my LCD supports 32 bits and I can easily switch between the resolutions supported

If you want to save your eyes and don't get headaches from sitting to much behind your pc-monitor, get a LCD monitor.

I don't do games that much, but wouldn't 50 frames or something be the highest frame rate that a human can possibly notice, or am I saying something stupid now?

I would advise you to buy an iiyama , their just amazing. I have 4PC's, and 4 iiyama monitors. All of them are the 'Vision Master Pro 454.

I have tried equivalent Samsung's and LG's, they dont come close.

iiyama do fantastic LCD's, really fast, perfect for games . I've just saw the bit in your first post, iiyama screens can go to 140Hz at 1024x768.

I've got an 17 LCD from BenQ (FP767) and never noticed anything bad about it. performs really good in games too.

you can find some lcd's that work well, even when playing games. just look at specs like resolution, refresh rate, response time, etc.

Whether or not LCD's can render colors as well as CRT's could certainly be an issue. But you probably couldn't find an LCD right now that doesn't support 32 bit color if you tried. Not that I'm a hardcore gamer, but I can't tell the difference at all between gaming on my LCD and gaming on a CRT. I'm sure there are those who have more critical eyes but I guess I'm not one of them if there is much of a difference.

That's just pure bull****. You can play fast paced games like q3 even with 25ms without noticing hardly anything. Less than 20ms is enough for anything. Many LCDs have 15ms these days, so there's really no reason not to buy a LCD - unless you really need the best colors.

i would definately go with Viewsonic

i have an A70 that WILL NOT DIE, and this thing has been through hell too, the video cable has been repaired 3 times ( not because of defect but because of all the connecting and disconnecting i do when working on peoples systems eventually wears out the wires in the cable)
