[help]powerbook, England Citizens Please

Well here is the story. I won an auction at www.deremate.com for a powerbook. The thing is, for some reasons I began to doubt of the veracity of the seller. The price was so good, he doesn't have a phone number, he wan'ts me to send the money first, etc.

I was talking with some friends, and one of them found that he is selling a motorcycle to, on another page. I don't want to lose a great deal for being so cautious, but I don't want to give my money to some stranger.

So I took the seller was a fraud as a fact. And I send him a mail telling him that I have a friend over there that offers me to check the laptop for me, before I send him the money. I thougth he will never answer the mail. But he confirm the address, and say that he will be at home all day long, he say send your friend.

Well.....I don't have anybody in London who can go there. So I'm here, asking for help from someone who could go for me. Please people, help me with this.

Don't want to double post, but I need to keep it alive.... :(

So, let me make sure I understand this properly. You are asking one of us, a complete stranger, to go to the home of a likely auction fraudster, who no-one knows, so you can check the auction is safe?

Also, waiting 9 minutes before bumping a thread is not right.

I would go, but I dont live in London and I'm very busy.

Must be SOMEONE out there though

 Please dont bump your thread so soon after you have replied, its not right.

If someone wants to help you, they will, else, please dont post comments stating how stupid you think it is whatever mephisto is asking for.

I understand your point ludge, thank you, so kind..... but I though this was a community!, that must help for something, in my case, I would do it, but if this is just plain stupid.....well I don't know.

anybody have a better idea?. should I just drop it?

edit: and sorry for bumping.

Anyone else see the similarities between this, and the scammer being scammed thread???

(for those of you who don't, the scammer was supposedly buying a powerbook, and lived in London. They also found out he was doing the same thing to a guy trying to sell his bike)
