i have an idea for a better competition... let's guess how long it will take you to learn how to make an actual theme and not just a recolored theme.
amnesia i'm not trying to be an ass but this is getting out of hand dude... you are releasing all of these theme recolors that takes the average person about 2.5 minutes to do, and now you are holding competitions for people to make you wallpapers for your recolored themes...
you need to take some time off and learn how to use photoshop or some other photo program and read some tutorials or something and learn how to create stuff on your own. There are lots of people in this community that can help you with any questions or problems you run into in creating a new theme.
Others may not agree with me, but it's my opinion, not a personal beef with you.
First of all I can't believe I even read that.
You can ask ANYONE on this forum and they will tell you that I've released alot of ORIGINAL work myself. (perhaps you were hidden under a rock at the time).
I made these recolors, which are not as easy as you make it seem to be, for my girlfriend and not for the general public but I decided to release it since it's nice to share.
Now I've only made TWO recolors for my own personal use and decided to release them and the "shocking green" one was due to request.
Second of all, what are you trying to say? Rather than beat around the bush, are you saying that I am hurting anyone by releasing these? (notice that I mention the original authors ALOT unlike some other themes)

wtf? You're going to let some ungrateful internet people make you leave? Wait, did I say some? MAKE THAT ONE. I for one am not impressed by recolors, but I certainly don't look down on anyone who releases them. Yeah, they are easy to do, but remember that not everyone owns StyleBuilder or some other program like it, and most certainly not everyone wants to customize their own themes. When it comes to wallpapers I have a different opinion, but in this case you need to back off Bubba.
Heh, Amnesia, I've seen your work, it by far surpasses much of the other crap I see lying around day to day, so don't worry about it, as long as people still want it, keep making it, and when they stop wanting it, stop making it... or I'll kill your dog.
I agree, with Globox. Bubba I have so much respect for your work, your one hell of a themer, but you should choose your words more carefully. These things can be handled differently (like pm) and for a guy whose been here for a long time (yes me), I hate to see you leave amnesia. It's posts like these that let you know why people leave this community. :6

@Bubba (Just incase you read this again): This may seem offtopic but what do you think of my SmoothStripes Black Panther theme? Or just Smoothstripes and panther in general for that matter.
I bet like everyone else here you think panther is a really nice GUI, and smoothstripes is also really nice as well.
Well, in that case why do you have to go and criticise someone's work that they are doing for free for this community out of their own time, when Panther and most of the themes based off of it are just minor tweaks on older visual styles.
e.g. Jaguar became Panther, then came Smoothstripes, then Milk...
They are all slight modifications on a single theme and yet you wouldn't criticise Max Rudberg as harshly as you just did Amnesia. I appreciate what amnesia has done (just look at some of the wallpapers he's made on osx-e) and hope he comes back to the community because the community should care for it's members, not scare them off.

Yea, i kinda see why he left...On aquaxp he got like 8 different wallpaper entries.
On aqua-soft only one person submitted one here, and he flamed at. Man, these forums really are crumbling.

i didn't say what i said in anger.. or even to disrespect amnesia's work... I know he's done alot of graphics and contributed alot to this site so please don't misunderstand me...
I simply want him to drop the recolored themes that he is releasing... if he can spend the time on making a banner add that showcases his recolored themes, he can take the time to create his own original theme.. I've checked out his modded themes and there is nothing different except it's poorly recolored. I'm not trying to get on anyone's badside and believe me i'm not claiming i'm some master themer, but amnesia if you dont end up moving past the recolors thats what you're going to be "typecast" as being, it's true.
Not to kick a dead horse, but does everyone remember Alanzieno, who brough us all these "new" themes that he ripped off, when it finally came down to him making something original, nobody could forget the fact that he used to rip off themes, and he still gets no respect, and i just dont want to see that happening repeatedly.
Amnesia, i have nothing against you at all, and it's nothing personal. As i said in my first post... anyone in this forum will be willing to help you out with any questions regarding making themes, including myself, and i just think you should put the time and effort into creating something on your own rather than using someone else's work.

First off, thanks everyone.
Bubba it seems to me as if you are posting in the perspective as if I want to either imitate or take credit for work that is not my own. You say poorly recolored but the original author's seem to think otherwise. In the case of Electrik Pink for example, all I did was change the Hue, so if it was poorly colored, it has nothing to do with me unless you dont like the color itself.
I'm not a VS themer, I'm a wallpaper designer and iconist. On the rare occassion I do create some themes.
You make it seem as if the banner would have taken ages when it only took a few minutes. I wanted it to look nice and to appeal to others as to get them interested in looking at the VS itself.
You also make it seem like that's all I've been doing (recoloring that is) In the case of Pink Milk, most of the images (pink ones) were made from scratch, and were made to look as close to possible to the original. All i've released are TWO mods of the originals (where as there are ALOT of other color mods that have been released before mine).
I'm not going to release any color mods unless I feel that I can greatly improve something. I released these (as I said before) because I had already made them (Pink Milk was complete but since I was going to release it, I decided to 'fine tune' it)

What makes me angry is that you make it seem as if I'm a beginner to designing which is an insult to any artist.
You say that I should put the time and effort in creating something. But what if someone doesn't have the time? What if I had to make do with the little time that I had? You have to think about this from another perspective, imagine the requests that I received by email to do something as a favour such as a color mod.
Before I release or mod anything, I make sure that I speak to the author and show them all possible screenshots to make sure that they like it before releasing it. Additionally I STATE it BOLDY that it is not my original work.
Holy crap I only made TWO releases!!!!! TWO! not TWO THOUSAND!
How can I or anyone else for that matter NOT take this the wrong way?

To me, as far as making themes, you do seem to be a beginner, and if by saying that, or by me offering my assistance if needed while making themes sounds like an insult, then you my friend have the problem, not me.

So because you lack time, creating some recolored themes is the only thing you have time for? Everyone on this board lacks time in one way or another, we all have lives, we all have things to do everyday, so lacking time is no excuse for poor performance.

I never once said you ripped off anyone, i'm aware that you have permission. This is what you're not understanding at all, i'm not disputing the fact that people like the things you've created, i'm not even disrespecting the things you've created, i'm simply saying that it seems like you're releasing stuff that you really didn't put a whole lot of work or though in to, and now with this thread you're basically asking for people to make you wallpapers, just think for a minute if a new thread opened up for every type of skin when a new VS was released. I would expect that a person studying law would be very open minded to critisism. Whether i say you're work is trash, or i simply state that i dont like a certain part of it, it's my opinion, i am speaking for myself and should not a target for your foul language, i would expect much more from a law student. Everyone has an opinion, no matter what you're profession, you should know that.

Now, everyone, i hope we can leave this behind and let it go. I've tried explaining that i did not mean any harm in any of my posts, and i've offered my assistance to Amnesia with any questions or concerns about theming to which he feels is insulting. I just dont want to see threads like this get out of hand, I do sincerely apologize for being an ass in my first post, i realize i did come off a bit harsh, but themers put alot of working into these themes in anticipation to release them to the public, and it's very frustrating watching others "change a few colors" and release it, even though they have permission.
But hey, that's just my opinion, it is obvious some people like what you are doing amnesia.
And whether this offends you or not is not my problem, but i am available and WILL help anyone on this forum or other forums who have questions about theming, i'm not claiming i'm the best or even one of the best, but i do know stylebuilder so it is possible that i can help you out, and i will.
