Anyone know the best setting for Yz Shadow to emulate shadow on OSX desktop?
Thanks in advance.
Now that I have a dual G4 sitting beside me, I played with the settings until I could get it as close as I could. They aren't perfect because the shadow OSX uses is a little different, but here's the settings:
Drop Shadow:
-------------------
Active window:
Top: -4
left: 10
Right: 10
Bottom: 18
Depth: 150
Inactive window:
Top: -7
Left: 6
Right: 5
Bottom: 8
Depth: 100
Offsets to an inner side: 0
Menu:
---------
Attach drop shadow to menus
Same shadow effect as the inactive window
Do not attach shadow effect to the start menu using WindowsXP Style
Taskbar:
-------------
Attach shadow to taskbar
Same shadow effect as the inactive window
P.s. I'm using Iceman's theme with a custom start menu at 1280x1024, so a theme with larger title bars might not look right.
Thanks jONEz, I appreciate the effort you put into getting a close replica with the shadow.
Jonez are you sure? When I checked Aqua they were identical to the settings Mr Yamaguchi had done.
I.e. y's shadow's default setting upon first run.
They must have changed the shadows and made them weaker for Jaguar then.
The original Aqua shadows are just like in standard Y's shadow, when you just install it.
EDIT: Man if that's true,.. Jaguar really sucks in the eye-candy department. They toned it down too much.
Three Drives, can you tell me the default settings. Thanks man.
Sure:
Drop Shadow:

Right: 15
Bottom: 20
Depth: 180
Inactive window:
Top: -7

Right: 9
Bottom: 12
Depth: 180
Offsets to an inner side: 0
Menu:
---------
Attach drop shadow to menus
Same shadow effect as the inactive window
Do not attach shadow effect to the start menu using WindowsXP Style unchecked
Menu is transparent checked
Fade in unchecked
Exclude start menu checked
Taskbar:
-------------
Attach shadow to taskbar
Same shadow effect as the inactive window
automatically adjust unchecked
Exclude:
program 1: object dock
program 2: wmp
I have had them changed from the defaults for some time, so I didn't know what they were anymore.
How I got those settings was comparing the shadow from one window to the other (both active and inactive), against a solid white desktop background. The G4 I have is sitting about a foot from my PC and both monitors are right beside eachother.
I'll go try it and post the results.
The shadows with those settings are a lot bigger then the shadows on my OSX 10.2.3 G4. The active window shadow is wider and thicker at the bottom. The inactive window is thick where it is almost invisible (one dark line) on all sides but the bottom on OSX. That's just what I've found, maybe they changed with Jaguar and Yz Shadow had the defaults from before.
