[release] @zdesk R1.00

Hi everybody ...

I just release the first version of my new app called @zDesk (R1.00).

For what ???

Simply create Icons on your desktop with a real view of each launched app.

I don't have many time for the "doc", but it will come ... One Day ...

So ... A screeny :

And a bigger one :

1024*768

And the link :

@zTeck : Just say easy ...

PS : All comment are welcome ...

Wow, this is VERY cool! Great work.

Yep, it's great!

Some suggestions:

1) (Again, like @zScreen), remove the desktop icon. Make it just a sys tray app. Also, you might want to remove the splash screen, and just place an "About screen" available from the system tray.

2) Allow for different arrangements of the icons. For example, say you want the first one to start at X 100, Y 100, and the rest should follow vertically with a 50 pixel space between each icon. Basically, more exact placement. Although this looks nice as it is, it's not a very functional app if all the icons are really close to each other. I know you can move them manually, but you shouldn't have to do it every time.

No matter what, it's a great app! :D

Hi nightcrawler1089,

Good suggestions ...

As you can see, at the first start, you have only one icon called "The SOUK" where all the screeny icon attach.

With right clic on the a screeny, you can create a real other launch icon who group all the instance of the app choosen.

You can also, on a app icon change the title, the icon and more always with right clic.

All positions of app icon are keeped in ini file so when you change a position, it is memorized.

Sorry for bad documentation, i wil work on later.

I hope i answerd to your question.

LeFOOL ;-)

All positions of app icon are keeped in ini file so when you change a position, it is memorized.

My suggestion was: By default, you can choose whether to align all of the icon screenshots vertically or horizontally, and other specifics (i.e space between each icon).

I know you can group the icons, which is a great idea!

I can help make documentation if you need it.

Also, another suggestion: Allow the user to specify font, color/background color, and font size of the label. Maybe also allow them to choose the size of the icon.

Great app!

@nightcrawler1089

Good ideas ;-)

Next release :

- Font, size and color in setting.

- Icon parameters in setting (like size & spacement).

- New engine for auto-placement with choice between horizontal & vertical preference.

- Right clic on systray parameter for choose between minimize all, restore all ...

- Bug correction (clic on systray may cause stupid reaction of all minimized windows).

- Better performance.

- And, maybe, a documentation (if you can help me, because my english is poor !!!)

PS1 : is someone have try this app on W2K ?

PS2 : i see a "bizar" thing : more than 1000 downloads and only 10 answers

The planned features sound great, cda007. I was looking forward to this program when you released zScreen and I saw this on your website. Currently, the program is of little use to me right now though and is more of a proof of concept. (Perhaps, that's why others haven't chimed in?)

Well, keep at it and thanks for sharing your apps with us. :D

PS. If you are planning an interim update, maybe you can have the currently hovered application thumbnail be brought to the front. I think that would at least make the way it is now more usable.

Hy.

I really like this little program, i don't even have enough words to describe the joy of having it on the desktop :woot:

Anyways, as i usually do, i have some suggestions :

1. add the ability for each icon to show the program thumbnails towards the left (like now), or to the right, up or down (i need it since i'd like to put the main icon in the lower left corner and make all tasks appear upwards)

2. add the ability to drag files over the application thumbnails (just like you would over the taskbar)

3. add more customization options (but i think you already said you'll add font and color settings)

4. if i'm right, there's a limit of 10 programs to be ignored, if so, it would be nice toy make that limit somewhat higher (i suppose 100 would be about enough for everyone)

Also an ideea is to make a Config program like Samurize has, so the main program would remain small since all the settings for individual icons and fonts would be done by the config program.

Hy again,

I forgot to tell you i've tried it under W2k and after showing the main icon on the desktop it exits with the next error message :

"Easydesk.exe - Application error

The instuction at "0x00000000" referenced memory at "0x00000000". The memory could not be "read".

Click on OK to terminate the program

Click on CANCEL to debug the program"

The test system is:

OS : Windows 2000 Service Pack 4

CPU : Pentium 3 550Mhz

RAM : 256 MB

HDD : 8Gb SCSI

I tought it might help you in some way.

P.S. i know the system is slow, and i didn't intend on using Easydesk on that system, just that it was the only Win2k system around.

very nice, something i think ill defiantly use.

It's greeeat  .

But it dosent like NeXplorer !

And can we regroup 2 apps (like NeXplorer.exe and Explorer.exe in the Finder Group)

?

BIen joué !

This is a lot of fun but it really slows down my system every time it updates the screenies. :(
