You kidding?

Ok ok, it's easy to get confused. Let's see:

Windows 7 is not being sold yet. It hasn't been "released". It is still in beta testing stage.

However, Microsoft is allowing you to download a copy of Windows 7 Beta, and giving you a valid key for free. You can even "validate" the key (I did it).

BUT! and here comes the important stuff: this Beta version and the key they're providing you expires in August 2009.

So, it is not a free Windows, it is just a beta version. It will expire in August, and, if you want to continue using it you'll have to pay.

There are cracks actually to install Windows 7 without a valid key (too stupid as far as I can see, because Microsoft is providing them for free anyways). However these cracks don't make Windows 7 pass the August dead-line. So they're quite unuseful.

Even though, I've already installed Windows 7, and I have to say I love it. I've installed Apache, PHP and some heavy stuff and it still works like sweet candy. This is an O.S. I would definitely pay for. :)
