[request] Help

Ok, Im not one to typically do something like this but i am at my wits end here.

I have a website that i need designed. I know the exact layout that I want, In fact there is a site that is up that i want my site to look like. I have permission from the web owner to use his design, i just need someone to code it for me, it is a super simple website with some minor java going on.

If anyone would be willing to do this for me, i would be forever gratefull, and may be able to pay a little bit.

Hey bud, how soon d'you need it?

If you can wait 'til say... Tuesday, I'd be happy to put something of that ilk together for you - it's probably the work of about an hour, absolute max (unless I start being my usual anal retentive self )...

As for the use of Java, why'd you need that?

I can do everything that page does (that I could find) with XHTML and CSS2, and it'd be about 1/4-1/3 the size of that page...

Yes, I know that the "Kenan Uktulun" and "Photography" images aren't right in IE, and yes, I know that in Mozilla it's a couple of pixels out, here and there, and that the middle image changes in the original... Oh, and I know that the gallery numbers are all the same, and that none of the links work.

On to top of that, the XHTML/CSS is a bit messy because I got lazy over the last hour, and have just been throwing it together since then. If anyone's got any thoughts/suggestions/methods by which I can wrench the steaming pile of crap that is IE from every machine on the face of the earth, then lemme know.

Photo - I'll tidy the code up tomorrow and try to fix the last couple of bugs, and I'll reply on here again once it's done.

For anyone who's interested, my page is 115KiB, including images, 109KiB of which are images that've been cribbed from the original site. I think I've cut down the non-image size of the page by about 200%, and the images by about 40-50KiB, but I'm not sure yet.

I know I said it'd take about an hour... I hadn't counted on IE being a pain. I always forget to factor in IE bug-sqaushing.2>

As I clearly stated on my site that all my work is copyrighted. I didn't give you permission to copy it. I expect that you top copying my work immediately.

As I said in the PM, I was going to offer Kenan the XHTML and CSS to use for his own purposes once I was complete (completely free of charge and with no "conditions of use", as the designs were his to start with), and offer Photo768 the templates such that they may serve as an example of how to develop a standards compliant website.

As most people at A-S know, I would never copy someone's work with a view to passing it off as my own, and am very keen on supporting artists' copyright. That said, I cannot plead ignorance regarding this - ignorance is never a defence.

Kenan, once again, I am very sorry for any harm or insult I may have caused, but I intended none. As I have said, I intended to offer you the pure XHTML/CSS2 pages once I had worked out all the bugs, should you desire them. I offer you this now as a gesture of goodwill, and will, to further illustrate said goodwill, happily rebuild your entire site using XHTML and CSS2, should you desire it.

Either way, as I've said, I'm happy to remove the copyrighted work from my "scratchpad" web server, and have done so until you contact me further.
