[help] Weird Problem About Firefox!

A very Weird problem about Firefox has been a headache for me for days,but i haven't got any ways to deal with.

That is every time i restore my OS and i install my Firefox and overwirrten it with my pre-backuped one(perfect customized version),but to my sadnness,it(Firefox)tells me that i have to choose or make a profile,as you see ,i got two alternatives to choose from.But when i choose #1,choose an exsting profile it tells that you have an exsting one if i choose #2,to make a new profile,everything is initialized,i have to customize it from the scratch,so fxxkin' weird.So do you have the same problem and tell me how to deal with this!

When you copied your profile folder over, did you copy the "Phoenix" folder? Or did you copy your actual profile folder? (probably something like m6q5aauj.slt or some crap like that)

only thing I would suggest, as I don't know much about firefox yet, is that you go to the firefox forums and post this there if you haven't already

Yes did put the Pheonix folder and L23DfdsxE32(like this one but not this)!

Did this happen when you upgraded from Firebird 0.7 to Firefox 0.8? The profiles may not be compatible between the two builds, and you might have to start from scratch and re-install the theme, and any extentions, you use.

When I upgrade, all I do is save my bookmarks.html file, remove my entire profile, let the new build install and create its own profile, but bookmarks.html back, and then reinstall any themes and extentions within the browser itself, and that works perfectly.

As well, old themes and extentions might not be compatible with the new build, so by trying to use your old profile, you could really break Firefox.

Yeah,i did just like you before,but you know i didn't mean that,i mean when i restore my firefox from a backup(which is newly installed without any old themes and extens),into the ...ApplictaionDATA--Phoenix folder it tells me that choose an existing profile or create a new one!and i did all of above but nothing happen but i have to re-theme and re-customize it from the start!!!!

Ok, how about this: When you backed up your profile, which of the following two things did you do:

1) Copied the entire "Phoenix" folder. (eg. your backup folder is called Phoenix)

2) Copied the "Profiles" folder, or the "ayc3te92.slt" folder. (eg. your backup folder has one of those two names)

If you did the first one, and your backup has the "Profiles" folder, along with the "pluginreg.dat" and the ""registry.dat" files in it, then as far as I know it should work.

If you did #2, then the reason it isn't working is because it can't find your profile. What you need to do is make a new profile, then copy all the files in the "ayc3te92.slt" (or whatever) folder from your old default to that "ayc3te92.slt" (or whatever) folder in your new profile.

Really, I don't know what the big deal is, though, it only takes a few minutes to install a theme and some extentions in Firebird.
