Any particular reason you're using Flash?

#164733

It's a little too "glossy"

#164782

Im using flash so I can add animated effects etc.

If I understand your meaning, 'Glossy' is pretty much what I was aiming for

#164970

/me hates flash everyday more

I never choose "flash version" when im given the chance on a website...

#164974

I think it looks good so far, but the 'home' icon isn't clear.

#164986

Be careful when using flash, ask yourself why are you using it, and know there are many usability issues that come with using it. Never use flash to design a website "just to use flash" and as far as the animation effects... 3/5 times the same effect can be accomplised with an animated .gif (which doesn't require a special plugin to view the page) -_-

#164987

Pffft to the naysayers. Flash is pretty cool.

#164999

There is no way that using animated gifs can compare to the the possibilities available using flash. Especially when it comes to creating interesting interactive effects: take a look at SwishMax for example.

Flash can be nice for accents on a site. If you're building a website around flash, I'd usually advise re-thinking your plan.

If this is what is being re-designed, I don't see what benefit flash would do.

Just a suggestion, putting a title on the stated page would be a good idea.

I love it.

Flash is good but consums lots of bandwith....If you have a paid host then thats no problem, but otherwise use JavaScript to do some very basic animations. And some people don't use Flash on thier sites cause they don't know how. :(

And other people don't use Flash on their sites because they don't see the need for it.

Also, did you consider that people might not like Flash because it uses lots of client-side bandwidth, too?

Ohh, I did not know that! >.

I do a lot of webdesign in flash, this is one of my latest ones, it's still underconstruction and doesn't really have any content, it's just to get a feel for the site so you can see the structure.

I'd be very interested in any feedback

Nice, b4b... very smooth, subtle look. :)

#166050

Yes, b4b, it is very good. However, I suggest putting the menu on the left side. For those with smaller display resolutions, you don't even know the navigation menu is there. Especially considering it's a geocities site- most people would just assume the horizontal scroll bar would take you to more ads. Otherwise, it's great!

A question- regarding Flash, is there any way to change objects (location/size/other characteristics) movie-wide? Let's say that I have a symbol that is in 20 different keyframes. Being the kind of person that I am, I've decided I don't like the location, and want to move it. Is there any way I can move all 20 symbols at the same time, even though they're in different keyframes?

Thanks,

Thanks very much for the feedback nightcrawler, i will change it, and update it in a little while.

Sorry i can't really help you with the Flash problem, i don't actualy use FlashMX to create my sites, so i don't know how to help.

The new design looks nice. Do you use SWISH, or another program?

#168656

if you ask me CSS and XHTML is the way to go

for example

some of the designs there are incredible and they load up very quickly

Flash is excellent for navigation and I recommend flash to anyone who wants a cool navigation system. But I, like Seph, avoid Flash where I can.
