[help] How To Make/burn A Vcd

Okay, I converted some avi files to mpeg-1 in pal format...then I burned the test file to CD-R and my DVD player won't play. Did I do something wrong?

Is there a tutorial somewhere or anyone can tell me how you make a VCD that works?

Thanks in advance

What formats does your dvd player support? Do you have any video editing software that you could use on your computer. I wouldnt reccomend it but there is always windows movie maker 2. I have made some movies with it, Sometimes it works great other times it is slow liike a goat. Usually a video editing program woud to handle the burning for you. I have always had good success with that.

you can't just burn a file to cd and have it work... when you create a vcd, it puts other files onto the disc to make it recognize it as a vcd. also, to make the vcd, the audio and video have to fit certain specs... here they are for PAL:

Video:

1150 kbit/sec MPEG-1

352 x 288 pixels

25 frames/second

(352 x 240 pixels, 29,97 frames/second for NTSC)

Audio:

44100 Hz

224 kbit/sec MPEG-1 Layer2

you can go here for tutorials on vcd and svcd.

if you still have the original, i believe there are more avi to vcd tutorials than mpg to vcd.

Use nero...you have to have a cue and bin file though for an SVCD which is better then just a VCD. I dont think mpegs burned to a disc will play on a DVD player...

i forgot to mention that... easy cd creator and nero, they both come with vcd creators in them too...

Try TMPGEnc first to make a "good" .mpeg. And then burn it like a Compliant VCD with Nero.

All DVD players play VCDs -_-

playstations, though, can't play vcd's even though they can play dvd's
