[help] How To Shorten A Headphone Cord
buy a luster terminal at your local electro shop
they look like this:

now just cut the wire, deisolate around 1 centimeter of every wire (get rid of the plastic around the wire) 'open' your luster terminal by screwing out the screws a little, put matching wires into both sides and secure the screws. get some scotch, wrap it around and your all set....
Its realy not worth it. Most headphone cords nowadays have these little tiny wires a few strands thick that are a whore to strip, and without soder dont crimp together well. Just double it up with electrical tape.
But if you realy want to know, strip off the insulation till you see copper or silver, but be very very carefull not to cut the wire, i sugest using your front teeth, your dentist will hate you, but its the tool of the profesional. After that reconect the striped wires and wrap with some insulating material.
