xabout_box_small.png

Hey dudes,

I finally released xAbout 2.5. Here's an overview of the changes/new features:

  • Complete new installer
  • 12 different languages

  • 8 different splash screens

  • 4 different application icons

  • Auto detection of RAM / CPU or custom texts

  • Run custom application on main window button or windows sysinfo

  • Many sourcecode improvements

  • Optimized speed

Click here to download the new version. Note: You may uninstall any old version of xAbout - otherwise you can get problems by running the new version. If you still get problems, please visit our new and official xApps forum.

Enjoy,

Cassiel

can u tell me how to change the languages ??

#13003

Mickwan, double right click on the program when it's up and it will bring up the options window where you can select languages and a few other things.

#13004

Very well done, fellow Northrhein-Westfalian ;)

Thanks for a greatly "little" App

Danke!

#13009

Ah so! ;)

Hab gerade mal eben den Thread verändert, war ein bisschen zu politisch *g*

So, let's talk back in english compatriot ;)

So long,

Cassiel

#13010

Yup, let's do that ;) - for the others: we were talking about our whereabouts in Germany

#13011

Detects memory fine...

But fails to detect my P3 500...

Displays nothing for Processor.

Also when you click to get "settings"... shouldn't "settings" appear above the ATM and not behind it?

#13013

Hey Mage, if you will check my website, Aquaboy.tk (the link is in my signature) I have posted a tutorial in the unrelated stuff on how to solve this problem.

#13015

Ok saw your regfix Michael14...

And it did work...

But, I found other info in that key...

~mhz and identifier....

I would think that xabout should read this info...

~mhz of course would be mhz...

and identifer shows "x86 Family 6 Model 7 Stepping 3"

I think you would need to incorperate a database in xabout

that relates the above info to the type of cpu.

Although I just looked on my 2k box and it has the ProcessorNameString for "AMD Athlon™", and an identifier of

"x86 Family 6 Model 4 Stepping 2". Don't know why my XP box didn't.

And my 9x box shows "AMD-K7™" for the identifier, but no ProcessorNameString.

#13018

It seems like Windows don't read out the "ProcessorNameString" on old Processors. And I'm not gonna to change xAbout to read out the ProcessorIdentifier, because the ProcessorIdentifier gives only information about the architecture of the CPU and not the Name of it. That's the same if the real ATM on OS X would show the architecture of an IBM PPC Processor.

Subject MHz: I thought about including this in the current release, but the text was getting to long and would be out of the window.

Sincerely,

Cassiel

PS: For further discussion about the xAbout development please visit the official xApps forum. Thanks in advance!

PPS: Michael14, as you wrote on your website "fixing a bug in xAbout version 2.5": It's not a bug of xAbout! It's a bug on windows!

Hi Cassiel :D

Xabout-ss.jpg

A character does not display the portion surrounded with the red line.

Can this be corrected? :(

Thanks

#13026

I'm not going to explain that again: Bug reports not here. Thanks...

susumu: No, it's not correct - but such things I can't test because I have no japanese windows :(

So long,

Cassiel

#13029

#13078

hey all, good afternoon...

So I have a few things I'd like to point out. First off Cassiel your the man! This is awesome. I'm diggin' the new 2.5 version. The language swicther is off the hook!

I have to say however, I'm gonna stick with your 2.0 version. No offense to this newer version.

I just find the 2.0 version more to my liking....

Here a photo:

xabout.jpg

xabout on left is the 2.5 version and 2.0 is the one on the right.

what feature I really liked with the 2.0 is you could edit the picture, title, version, memory, processor, copyright etc.... with 2.5 the option to edit the title, version and copyright is gone, plus when you leave the memory and processor input value blank on the 2.5 version, the text "memory" and "processor" are still visible...

to get a more realistic look to the xabout of an actual mac... What I did was leave the value input of version, memory, processor and copyright blank in 2.0. thus basically leaving the xabout "blank" (its just showing an image)... I then editted the normal.gif in photoshop and put the text in with the image. thus making it look more authentic.... Anyway, Cassiel your cool, cuz you made this great program.... for those who want a more authentic-ish look, i suggest using 2.0 and just editing the .gif image and leaving the values blank... but the normal way works too (its also less work), and the difference isn't all that big but ya i'm a bit OCD-ish so I gotta make it look a certian way... anyfuu, thanks for these two programs.. they are awesome...

peace.

#13079

Im sorry, Cassiel. It's because there is a problem in my ISP, Huh, I didn't downloaded this on time.
