it has come to a point in which browsing the screenshot thread is just painful or not possible (Sepcially on public environments such as an office). Below you will find two of the most recurring problems lately, why they are a problem and what actions will be taken.
Make sure you read carefully because not knowing about the rules does not exempt you from them.
Problem:
People posting explicit content on the ss thread.
Why:
This is an international board without age restrictions and many of our members dont even surf the boards in the privacy of their own home but in public places. It is thus not acceptable for our members to submit explicit material on the screenshots thread. I am not saying they are porn or they are not "Artistic"; we are not discussing that. They are just no up to standards in which our members can safely enjoy watching other peoples screen captures without worrying if the images will be suitable for prying eyes or not (I for one have stopped watching the SS thread while in the office, this shouldn't be)
Screenshots can contain "spiced up" content, such as a girl in bikini, as long as:
1.- It is tasteful (would you show this to your mum?)
2.- It is not shown as a thumbnail (or at least the girl in bikini is not showing on it) and a proper warning is given to the linkage such as "not suitable for office viewing"
Action that will be taken:
All non PG images, including those not explicit but not completely "all publics" so to speak will translate into a deleted post. Do this 3 times and you will be warned.
Problem:
People keep overusing the liberty to post comment on the screenshots thread and when quoting a post, they do not edit the image out.
Why:
This not only increases the loading time (remember, we still have 56k users) but makes the surfing of the thread visually unpleasant, specially so when the same ss has been quoted already.
Action that will be taken:
Since we mods do not have the time to go babying you and editing the images out for you, the replies that violate this rule will be deleted without notice. Do it 3 times and you will be warned
Now, for those of you who still are not aware of the rules of the Screenshot thread. Here they are yet again. Not following the rules WILL get you warned
Desktop Guidelines:
- Use a thumbnail of your desktop no larger than 640x480.
- You are now allowed to have discussion in this thread but please keep it on topic, requests and questions are fine, but nothing else, members will be warned.
- If you are going to quote a topic remove the image from within the quote.
- Keep this thread clean, no nudity, violence, so keep it pg rated.
- Moderators have the right to edit or remove any of the posts in this thread.
