[help]colors In Ps Cs

As the title suggests, I'm using Photoshop CS...

Everything I open/make in PS gets a light purple overlay applied to it (or something like that), but the purple color doesn't show op when I save it and open it in Image Preview/set it as my wallpaper.

I've looked through the PS settings and couldn't find anything that looked like it would solve the problem, so I'll let you take a look...(I used a mod Seph's //Paddedroomin' wall as an example-- the pic shown in PS is the one set as my desktop)

// thx >.<

PS: Yes, this is what's keeping me from changing my av ;)

[edit]****, this doesn't go in the iLife forum >.< [/edit]

Did you try changing your Color Profiles? Try changing to the 'Web Defaults' color profile.

Go Under Edit -> Color Settings and choose Web Graphics or similar.

Also another explanation for the problem could be that the pattern in Seph's wallpaper is not colored using a brush or the fill tool but has been colored in by using a Color Overlay for the layer.

Not sure because I don't have Photoshop CS on my cousin's computer here....>.<

EDIT: Typo....>.<

1. Changing it from North America something-or-another to Web Defaults didn't do anything =\

2. This started before Seph released his wall, needless to say I've tried making new documents and editing other wallpapers

try a little test.

Make a small images.

CTRL + A. Right click (with the selection tool chosen), choose fill. Fill it with random colors)

If they fill to a normal color, then that means it's the palette associated with the psd. If it also has a purple hughe then that means it's the global palette. (reset it).

Wow, strangely enough, I was able to fill stuff with correct colors. Now what? :P

[edit](For what it's worth) I take that back about the starting new docs and making junk-- the color's fine when I do that[/edit]

// thx

Keith, i have had problems with color profiles myself... make sure that the color profile you have chosen for your monitor is the same as the one you have chosen in PS color profiles, it usually si sRGB and some weird frewaky-ish number that i dont remember... Have you calibrated your monitor lately?

Is it an LCD by any chance?

Also, hold your horsesl ill release a colorized version of PaddedRoomin' soon. Itll look bettah :P

Im going to move this to windows software as it is not like youre showing us an iLife creation ;)

Seph! You da man! Changing my monitor's color profile to sRGB whatchamacallit worked ^_^ . And yes I'm using a LCD

Also thx to Lou for first suggesting color profile issues ;-)

I think the root of the problem was when the power button on my monitor broke off and fell inside of it. I opened up the monitor, glued this little thing on the button onto this other thing inside the monitor with apoxe glue, and it was as good as new. I guess unplugging it and opening it re-set the monitor or something (?)
