Why don't you just check with DeMo over at Samurize??? After all, he made the plugin, so he would know better than anyone

mobydock has the same issue - windows messenger needs to be installed.

even though, it does not need to be open, and not need to be used, just install it and forget it - yoou can still use msn for ur messenger. ;)

I feel like I'd need to add the following mustard:

Ever since the 1995 model of AIM, the messenger programming API

has been incompatible between each messenging product, be it the

original AOL messenger, the Windows or the MSN Messenger.

Sometimes, the automation Access would launch the IM App,

sometimes it would simply crash if the App was not launched in advance.

It will get confused utterly if you have both MSN and AIM installed,

If you installed MSN over Windows Messenger; there are dozens of

combinations the poor guy could not handle even if he could walk on water.

Conclusion 1.

Every widget, docklet or script seems to be coded against some definite

version and only that version.

Conclusion 2.

There is no way to distinguish the versions in code, so the coder can not be

blamed at all.

Conclusion 3.

It's not feasible at all. Stay away from it. Don't try this at home.

Microwaves are not for drying your pets fur and IMs are not for automation.

If you want some sort of MSN Messenger contacts information on your desktop, I have a cheap hack which will work...sorta. Not sure if it will be good enough for you.

Since I guess you have Plus!, you'll know how to enable Event Logging. Do that, and keep the location in mind.

Now, create a new script in Samurize, and link it to a text file. Tell it to display the contents of your event log, and...maybe 6 lines of it, set it to "Read From Bottom". And you should be done...
