This Is Official

The long wait has gone in the flames of joy and the shocking G5 stealth. Even the monitor is noisier. My dead p4 3ghz looks like an old dusty wiresness piece of chit, hence P.C., kinda like dz is praising all the time. I cant believe I fell for it. Anywho:

Dual 2GHz PowerPC G5

1GHz frontside bus/processor

512K L2 cache/processor

2.5GB DDR400 128-bit SDRAM

160GB Serial ATA

SuperDrive

Three PCI-X Slots

ATI Radeon 9600 Pro

64MB DDR video memory

56K internal modem

AirPort Extreme ready

Internal Bluetooth module with antenna

It was worth every single frame of work.

*While teary, Goku waves at the community as he nobly glides up to the the next level leaving many searching for new emulation updates in vain*

Nice buy... im sure you'll like it every bit as much as i love mine :D

Also, as an agreement, we are moving this kind of announcements to the mac os hardware forum, because it always tends to drive the conversation there.

So do you have any money left? :-P

First a 3 Ghz gaming rig, now a dual 2GHz G5? You must be eating your couch right now for food ;)

Seph, you're the boss!

Also, when I found my pc laying dead in my room after a computer combustion I managed to retrieve 2gigz worth of ram. Seems like it has some sord of use lol. Thanks !

Keith, I'm truly sorry, but at this moment I couldnt care less about money. Its like asking sone if he loves his girlfriend while he's banging a porn girl. However, you can always keep on reminding him so he'll feel like chit. :o

 Comical highlight of the week

@Goku: Well, you were lucky that the machine our parents wouldnt buy was a little spaceship and thus was equipped with dual channel ram, cause otherwise, your beautiful G5 would have spitted on you and then showed you the finger. I had to buy my extra gig cause it wasnt dual channel <_<

Now, as a celebration get your Dualie a decent Wall to go with it... may i suggest This?

yes, that was a shameless self plug... so what? huh?

Welcome to the AS mac club goku.

Nice to see another one of us, moving up the ladder and getting what we so deperatly wanted after sooo many years of emulation.

Congrats my man

Seph, what is "parents?"..

Photo, I already had an imac (G3) before this one. THANKS mayn!

I must note that the boot on the G3 was seriously 100% faster than the 3ghz machine I had. Not to mention the G5, macs have always booted directly into the boot screen and from it directly to the desktop, whereas the pc reads bios, flashes with the "HT" technology (wow), detects HDs, keyboard, mouse and what not. untill then my imac G3 already has the loading screen. Now dont get me wrong, I'm sure the mac goes through the same process, but I think its about time to advance from the 50's and not have the command lines scroll up while the computer is happily detecting the plugged in devices. "look, I found a keyboard, *cursor blink*, Mouse OK, *cursor blink*, I found some memory and I'll count ALL of it, *cursor blink*, Oh btw, if you want to destroy your bios, just hit 'del', *cursor blink*, found CDrom and other slaves of mine, *cursor blink*, now let me show you a table of everything I found + extra things, just to make you feel I'm a super computer, *cursor blink*.

Sigh.

This post was edited on a Mac G5 today. aight?

#162569

wow goku...2.5 gigs of ram. makes my 1 gig of ddr look bad :( and also...what happened to your 3 ghz processor? did it get fried or something? or you just wanted a mac? how much did all that cost anyway?

I'm sure this comp will help with your video/graphics editing :)

#164028

Ok, when I say my pc got fried its actually the mobo that died. Everything else seemed to be ok.

I got another mobo, but sadly it got fried too. So an electrician figured it was the DWP which caused those surgers since my room was wired better than anything he has ever seen. So I got two surge protectors connected in a row. At that point I figured I no longer wanna deal with a PC anymore. The oldies around here can verfiy that I've been hating to deal with the looks of the repulsive cases, the wires, the illuminated schit that comes with it, fans, bios, jumpers, wires, cords, wires, screws, ram count, ugly GUI no matter how advance we are, tech crap, screw drivers, flash lights, stealth/lit fans, unheard of time & energy waste with the aqua emulation resulting in me not producting any, but ANY work. Of course, I could have just gotton a 3rd mobo (after returning the second one) plug it in the second surge protector, but then all my hate towards windows and its creators reached a final stage. So I had a choice and Ive made it. I'm a mac zealot and there is nothing I can do to stop it, "Me, me, me.. - Me too". Gratefully I could re-use the pc3200 ram chips (most of 'em) so I could build up 2.5gigz of ram

Whoever wants to buy my radeon 9700 pro AIW (WITH EVERYTHING INCLUDED) + 3.06ghz CPU + HS + Fan, then let me know :D

50% off on all of them. I still have the receipt to back myself up just incase. :naughty:

I've wanted a mac for a long time now, specially when th G5s came out. Ive realized that if I infinitely enjoy using it cause its a complete and sleek product, yet I keep on wishing for one without lifting myself out from the aqua-soft emulation & gaming swamp, then I can rest assure I can keep on dreaming, and sink in time waste and grief of a priceless and worthless sickening hobby.

Congrats Goku on your new G5...unfortunatly your name is still on THE LIST.

I'm moving to a new house soon, with a real home office! Part of the move includes me updating my existing network and office furniture, so I have a few serious questions:

1.) What CAD applications are available for OSX?

2.) Can email be organized by groups on the OSX mail app?

3.) How much does PS cost for OSX?

4.) How stable is OSX? (I actually have an install of WinXP thats been going strong for 9 months now, and everything is still zippy fast despite 3 processor upgrades, 2 new videocards and 5 new keyboard/ mouse combos).

5.) Does that 9600 act like a man's video card, or is it womanly?

I really have more than enough power right now with my 3200, but I would love to add a file server to this network...if a G5 could serve as a workstation that would be groovy. What would you recommend?

I'll track this thread, any info would be appreciated!

#164597

1) I see it asked a lot, but never see answers. It's a common topic at Spymac if thats any help.

2) Yes.

3) Same as PS for windows. Currently somewhere around GB£600 I think.

4) Very. I have had Safari crash twice, a couple of beta-apps several times, but the OS, never.

5) Have to wait for Goku's reply.

#164663

congrats Goku, u lucky bastage :6

#164734

Thanks DZ,

let me rephrase Ludge, he's been too kind to you dz  :

1) Vectorworks

Read about CAD, OS X and the G5....

2) Big time, long time ago, before microsoft mastered their first industrial spying - you could have easily checked out all these features in apple.com

3) Same price, but then again I wouldnt mind paying tripple just so I could use it on the mac

4) :o - Why should I answer this to a freak of AMD, and a Microsoft acolyte?

5) let me rephrase it DZ, does your AMD burn your electricity bills or does it compete w/ flying by jet planes? And yeah this 64mb A LOT more than I need (pretty much similar to the TI series) plus it gets rammed by the dual 2z and 2.5gigz anyways. Anytime I feel like getting a 128mb mac version, I'll always take the two dig outputs for granted :naughty:

#164853

thx acid

#164856

Damn I can't stop by and not to say congratulations bro!!!

You know you're in my heart
