aqua apps crashing on win 2k

well, it seems quite clear from the title :)

I installed the Aqua apps as suggested, and they keep crashing in windows 2000.

Were the apps written for windows XP only?

Just curious.

The apps are written in Visual basic and they should run fine on Windows 2000. Make sure that you installed the AquaControls properly and that you installed them BEFORE installing any of the other Aqua Apps....Also you will probably need to install ChilkatControls which I think is the main reason behind the application crashes....

you can get ChilkatControls here

http://www.chilkatsoft.com/ChilkatUpdate.exe

OR HERE

ftp://www.chilkatsoft.com/ChilkatUpdate.exe

Once you install this the apps should run fine....

hey, here I am again.

What exactly are the chillkat apps? I don't have any installed now, and I never heard of them before.

Don't know about the Applications coz personally I've never used them....but Jef uses some functions from the ChilKatControls in his Aqua Apps which is why you need to install those controls along with the AquaControls....

The Chilkat Mail control is only needed if you are using AquaMail.

Please give specifics on the errors you are receiving as well as your system configuration. It's very difficult to debug issues when all you say is that the program is crashing.

Hi Jef,

Welcome back....when can we expect to see your apps back on the Downloads Page??

The apps are on the download page. They are the same version that were on the old site. I hope to have new versions soon.

Hi Jef , I installed the most recent version of Aqua Controls and the Finder, as available from the downloads page here.

The finder is quite slow, which is probably because I use windows 2000. Also, when I try to click the "path" button, the finder crashes, and windows says: Aqua-Finder generated errors, you need to restart this program. (in dutch :) )

Also apparantly there is a log file created, but I can't find it.

Hope this is of any use, I know it's not much...

some system specs: windows 2000, SP2, AMD Athlon XP 1700+ with 512 MB DDR Ram.
