Limit the Target's access rights of your shortcut to a specific user.
If you don't have fast user switching on XP, I guess, XP will ask you a password.
It would be nice, however it would only work on the desklet and someone could still access through my computer or many other ways. I suggest you try a program that will lock the folder itself (Can't remember any off hand but there are lots of em').

that seems like a lot of work.. i have a program that locks a folder for me.. called lock folder xp only downside is its not free...
if anyone knows of a free one that would be great..
oh and lock folder xp will completely hide the folder.. or moves it to somewhere.. not sure where it gets moved to.. been too lazy to search for it.. but it works pretty good..

Yeah it does kinda suck, wish things like this were built into windows. More than likely the program you are using simply adds an attribute to the folder to hide it. Such as attrib +h will hide a folder for you and attrib -h will unhide it. I do hope someone comes up with some sort of intergration cause that would rock.

The best encryption/locking app that I know of is PGP. We have to use it at work for encrypting sensitive docs before emailing and then sending a key separately. I know that it also has an excellent encrypted virtual disk solution.
The best thing about it is that it integrates with the shell brilliantly to the extent that you don't even know its there.
Unfortunately, all good things come at a price...
