I don't have the installation screenshots, but if you do a clean Panther install minus classic support it takes, if I recall, just 7 minutes.

But, aren't there in PDF files? In folder Documents?

#155905

The Documents folder is empty until you start adding files / folders in there.

Why would the system automatically take screenshots of the installation dialogues and save them to the Documents folder?

The installation dialogues are like: language, location, net connection, user / password, stuff like that. Very simple.

Yes, default OSX screenshots are in .pdf, but I didn't take screenshots of my installation. You can find them online somewhere though, definitely.

On a separate note, topics regarding the Mac OS X OS, should go in its forum. Also, please remember to tag your threads. I have added a [Request] thread to your thread now.

that's insane. A classic system folder which is all that is needed to run classic is 340mb, and that's as a .dmg not even compressed.

The install can be up to 2gb IIRC.

Also, it all depends on what system you're installing. I find the longest part of the install is the 'optimizing drive' which I have no clue what it realy does.

Around an hour on a G3

Around 30mins on a G4

and around 20 mins on a G5

Never installed on a duel G5, so those are all quoting single processor systems.

And I've installed OSX maybe.. 40-50x .. so i'm sure IIRC.

i expected a reply like that, but i'm just talking about Panther install disks 1 and 2. that's it. it *is* shockingly fast.

The 'optimising drive' is basically defragmenting.
