[help] N00bie At This, But Wow

Ive always been a windows user and yes I have xp with the classic theme. Ive always had a interest in the mac gui. I think some of these desktops r amazing. I dont know bout you but im lazy and It seems like it would take a while to put together all this and i dont really want to slow my computer down. Ive got the dock and the theme but not sure if i want to stick with it and where to go next. How to u get the file menu next to the start button?

If you mean the Finder bar at the top of the screen, you can use Winmac (free, but not so great) or ObjectBar (shareware).

Do NOT get sucked into this. God will fry your computer, he will terrorize your windows platform no matter how legal it is, he will even set your newly purchased working parts on fire, he will then release a new line of powerbooks and get you a job on a digital fine art job, throwing all clues and hints at you.

3) Yz'Toolbar

You'll have to google for these and find em to download. They leave small footprints... the days of counting resources are nearly over. GG Win 3.1. If you have 512k of RAM, you'll be MORE than ok.

4) Wallpaper

5) IconPackager (replaces startmenu icons)

6) Hacked UXTHEME.dll -- use visual styles instead of WindowsBlind IMO. No matter what people say, I've always had problems somewhere down the line w/ WB. It's junk software like most of the products Stardock distros.

7)**expert** Reshacking Window's resource files... ie: Shell32.dll.

And per-application skins like Trillian (iChat skin by Daminator), etc... just stick to the forum, you'll find everything you're looking for.

Good god man, there are 56kers on here, at least post only one desktop, not two. :woot:

Basically you have several choices on several different things:

Finder Bar

ObjectBar (shareware), WinMac (freeware), McBar (In Development, but looks promising)

Docks

ObjectDock, Y'z Dock (If you can find it on you're on your own, its a long story that we realy should have an explanation thread for [offtopic]recommendation for Mods there[/offtopic] ) or MobyDock

Visual Styles

Too Many to list but if you want almost perfect replicas of Panther, I recomend TD4 by ThreeDrives (msstyle) and Panther by Xero (WindowBlinds)

Desktop Applications - Things like desktop calenders or HDD Monitors

DesktopX (ShareWare, but good effects), AveDesk (very good, with plenty of support), Samurize (Well developed, very nice program)

And an application you have to get, if oyu have XP SP1, is Fly-A-Kite SP1. It mods the system files to give you a nice Mac feel, whatever other modifations you make! Plus uninstaller, so you can take it off at any time!

I Hope that helps a bit  If anyone has anymore they would like to add that I have forgotten please don't hesitate to do so...

btw when you said,

Ive got the dock and the theme but not sure if i want to stick with it
Thats perfectly normal!, I must change my Wallpaper, Visual Style and Dock BG every week or so!

@lostspyder: It's a dual monitor setup, not two screenies at once! silly billy...
