Aqua-Soft Forumsmy sound card is a c-media 8738 and it makes a click from my subwoofer when it initializes and de-initializes the card. i need a program to keep it always initialized. (hopefully one that minimizes to the system tray or is only visible as a process)

are you talking about a "pop" from the subwoofer each time you turn on and off the soundcard? If this is the case, its because the card is cheap, and its discharging a DC signal through the subwoofer, and your sub is probaly amplifying it. This isnt a software fix.

actually it is. if someone makes a program with a built-in empty sound file along with a loop that takes up hardly any memory and loops the sound it will stop the pop because the sound happens as soon as the computer makes a sound so my point is if the computer just keeps one of my card channels (not to be confused with speakers) open it doesn't make the sound. i tried it by pausing wmp and making a sound on my pc and it worked. i don't want to have to do that every day when i log on.

yes it is. i want to keep one channel used. if i do so my card will stay initialized.
i know it can be done because the sound card drivers in redhat fedora do that (orkeep it initialised in another way) and i always pause windows mediaplayer and use shellenhancer to minimise it to the system tray.
It may not take up memory, but that idea would probably tax your processing power (//Me speaks from experience)
...wait... a CM8738? I had the same sound card and never had that problem with it 
. Maybe I had a different Windows driver than you...
I'd just buy a SB Live! They're about $15-20 now, and are fine cards for the money.
