slow down on the searching for pics.. and start reading some threads..

best way to learn on this site is to read... thats what its here for..

by the way, welcome to aqua soft

Thank you sir, i have read many a topic, and they are very interesting, Most though are above my head and use words that i assume requires much knowledge to understand. I am but a "Idiot" in the modding world

#153565

If we had one thread for each person that starts in customization of their pcs, this place would be unbearable, we have a huge knowledge base, make use of it, if you need further assistance, in a latter stage of the modding, please, by all means create a [help] or [Request] Thread... For this one, i would recommend, you detail your needs a bit more, may i suggest you start by reading the List of All Mods.

Haha, poor kid, yeah go with that tutorial. Even though I stopped using Windowblinds and OB a long time ago it is how I started and the end result is a more accurate imitation of OS X.

I'm also a ****ie in Aqua-soft and it seems that it would take some time to learn and install the desktop of my dream. Eventhough the learning curve is long (need lots of reading and browsing), I'm willing to do it because of the beauty of the OSX desktop.

I would appreciate it very much if you could give tips & advice base on your experience in easing the search for the right stuff.

Thanks!

Bah, nowadays things have become way more easier than months ago (years, in computer time) with flyakite system files you can do, what tooks me months of learning, essay and error..... now, you use flyakite, download OD and OB and is almost set, the you'll find Y'z apps............and so on....... I almost envy you, it use to be sooo exiting!

Welcome to Aqua-Soft. :D

Oh boy... a ****ie. I'm pretty much of a ****ie myself, you know  ! So, Null, there's tons of stuff out there. I suggest, if you don't want to learn that much, use Flyakite's SP1. This replaces lots of your system files so that your computer will end up looking like a Mac. Make sure you have XP SP1, though. So, pick what you want (make sure that at the very least, you pick the visual style, otherwise, you'll get the system icons, but not the changed exit buttons and other stuff). So, once you install Flyakite, move you start menu to the top of the screen (it should have an Apple icon where the Windows used to be), and then download a dock. I suggest Y'Z Dock, but there's also ObjectDock and MobyDock (I use Y'Z because it doesn't use much memory). Pick the icons you want for the dock, and choose the settings you want. By now, you should have a pretty Mac-Looking computer.

If you don't understand anything here, post it up or PM me (or really anyone).

[EDIT]Thanks, Infinity! Almost forgot [/Edit]

Object Dock: http://www.stardock.com/products/objectdock/

MobyDock: www.mobydock.tk

For tons of applications, go to www.osx-e.com (but not in April, b/c they exceeded their bandwith, and succeeding in scaring the **** out of everyone)

For other visual styles, go to www.stylesuites.com

There's tons of stuff out there. This is like one billionth of it. But it's a start.

Hope this helps,

Thank you for the information and tips. I finally have OSX desktop in my XP machine. It's cool. I wouldn't try to look again at XP desktop again.

Thanks NIGHTCRAWLER1089, I installed and customized flyakite, objectdock and bootskin.

I hope www.osx-e.com will finish their server transition so I could download Visual OS bootloader.

Oh sorry- that was completely off the top of my head. Pretty impressive that I remember the URL for one of the four dock's out there (the fourth being Aqua Dock), though :D .

Just an idea- Someone or several people could put together a text file (so as not to exclude anyone who has not fallen under the evil grip of Microsoft and doesn't use Microsoft Word) titled "OS X Emulation For Dummies." That's probably copyright violation, though, so it could be like "The Definitive Guide to OS X Emulation." Basically, it would include links to all OS X emulation sites, and help ****ies beautify/exorcise their Windows computers. Or do you think it's not worth it? I wouldn't mind putting this together, as long as people would help. Plus, we could have a "developer's section" listing those developer websites that don't get picked up by Google. The developer's would submit their URLS.

Any takers?

Used that link and slowly makin me xp look like a mac, but some of the links dont work and some of the things they tell me to do , dont actually work,

Null- the problem with this is that some of the things it uses are shareware. I like Applizing my XP, but I don't want to pay for it. This tutorial is for you, though, if you already have Object Bar, Windows Blinds, and an extra fifty dollars (I'm not being sarcastic, why does that sound sarcastic? :D ).

I've started working on a guide to Applizing your XP!

Thanks,

Well, you could write up your learning process up on the Aqua-Soft wiki. That's what it's for... open permanent contribution.

Yeah, I think I'll do that, but also release it other places. It might take a while because I'm going to be really busy in the next month.

Was a link to Y'z Dock dl - but not anymore!

NOOOO!!! Someone get rid of this quickly before Apple sees it!!!

You fool, its illegal to provide links to or host Y'z Dock (to cut a long story short Apple sued Mr.Y) >.<

And btw Aqua-Dock is Y'z Dock repackaged (which is also illegal)

(If you have Y'z Dock already, keep it, its precious!)

Whoops, Sorry. I forgot. I know that Apple sued M. Yamaguchi, a fact that I am deeply sorry about. But that's a conversation for another time...

Infinity- I edited my post, so why don't you edit yours.

Thanks again,

Actually Apple didnt sue they sent a Cease and Desist which means all development and disscusions stops or he will get sued which is why we are not allowed to mention the software we dont want Apple to think these apps are still in development.

Infinity thanks for pointing it out but you need to edit your post because the quote still caries the link >.<
