Is It Just Me Or...

Now this post is prolly gonna offend some people even more than before, but I thought this should be dealt with. The fact is that everything is becoming taboo here, and the slightest hintto certain things causes major uproars.

Now you can flame me, swear at me or just ignore me all you want but I, for one, don't get offended. Hell, the only time I take offense is if people start swearing at my mother and sister and thats it. even then, I just ignore it. Which is why I don't understand why some people are acting really annoyingly for the past few days (I am not talking about particular in particular).

So whaddaya think? Perhaps I am too thick-headed to get offended, or perhaps its some people with a very short fuse..

Oh, and one more thing. Why the hell do people get offended when a mod deletes their post?? They have full right to do so. In fact, if this post is not appropriate - mods: you can delete it and I won't mind a bit, since I will know you did it for a good reason.

There... that's a burden off my back..

Taha nahh it's just ppl that have very short fuse thats it :)

People always get pissy online, it's just the way of the web. If you don't have a thick skin, can't take a joke or are easily offended then they have little place on the web. Forums and newsgroups are notorious for this type of behaviour... the joys of not being face to face and the fact that typed words are easily misinterpreted to mean something else.

For example, I just pulled Duckies chain in another thread and he'll probably see it for the joke it is, others may take it sreiously and get all righteous on my ass.... water off a ducks back to me. I've been online long enough to know what's what and very little offends me or gets me upset. I'm 44 and a crusty old fart and anyone wants to get on my case they can basically kiss it! ;)

However, I prefer the road of civility with the odd light hearted joke or insult thrown in for good measure. Some just don't get it and I feel sorry for them. Having a big stick up your ass for so long can't be comfortable.

taha - a senior member like yourself, and person with such kindness, wouldnt even make me or im sure other ones to dare to think about the trash can icon in the top right.

You are right, SOME people here are just too tight and stressed. Infact those ppl happen to be pretty much "fresh" who joined in at the very end of last year, right when aqua-soft took a "little" break.

i think we need a lil more time till those users will go with the flow and learn that after all, when we move away from the monitor for few minutes, we can clearly see whats really significant and meaningless in our lives. Soon they will accomplish that.

EDIT:

couldnt say it better.

Also, apart of the deal in registering to aqua-soft, which is a tramendous honor, is to agree to any edit, deletion of one's post/thread by the mods or the admins. I myself may be deleted by other mods or admins as well. Actually thinking about it, i was deleted quite enough times by the mods and admins in the begining of last year when aquasoft returned yet from another break ;). B)

Gotta luv aqua soft!

hrm... I was beginning to wonder it was just me.

But Smeggy, in my case I have an even LONGER fuse on the innernet, coz to me.. when I see the person in front of me, it gets to me more than if its 0's and 1's displayed on a screen...

Oh well... apples, oranges, erm, fruit..cake... whatever that saying is whose message is 'everyone is different'.

this is the general discussion forum, i think we can discuss here anything. I think it is good to have such discussions, i mean they wouldnt harm anyone, plus they dont affect the world events, so why avoid talking of them. Who ever doesnt like to participate, he can choose wether to participate or not, i can say "no" to post in a ceratin thread, i think we have enough judgement to knwo if we post or read certain posts/threads.

Just my point of view

I have no problem with anyone posting about religion, politics, sex, or grasshoppers on fire. None of it bothers me, UNLESS those said posts become inflammatory, racist, bigotted, threatening, or similar.

I, and my fellow mods/admins, reserve the right, at ANY time, to delete posts/threads/topic titles at OUR discretion. However, we do NOT do it often.

I welcome rebuttals to this and any thread. Debate is healthy, but when you mix thin skins with child-like attitudes, you sometimes have drama. I'm 33 and NOT patient with drama. I think we're better than that, but if someone wants to get all politically correct, I say move on to another site.

It's like those zealots who ***** about TV programming: The answer to their problem is to change the damn channel and shut their friggin holes. If you don't like something, don't attend to it. If something offends you, you have a right to rebuttal, but dont get all high and mighty.

Have fun, kids, this may be the beginning of a new day in civility if people take these posts to heart...

I guess mods have a few extra icons for us and our messages: trash icon, call the police icon, castrate icon, burn in hell icon, etc. :)

As for the subject of this thread, people can be offended for many different reasons. And it's much easier when they actually want to be offended. Taha's thread (deleted?) about the "evil Bush" video can be seen as a good joke and a nice effort of video editing, or as a political attack against the President.

The "no politics at all" rule of this forum isn't enough to keep things peaceful and quiet in here. We can discuss politics in a civilized way but flame each other about the icons we choose. It's more like a matter of politeness and respect to each other in here.

Have a nice day gentlemen!

Ken

:P

[EDIT] Just noticed Duckie's post... I couldn't agree more with him. Besides, he speaks english much better than I do [/EDIT]

well basically Taha was asking to delete it several times. In either case it slided into bad tounge and flamings so it waz definatly worth stoping. Closing it will bring people to continue the arguement with a link to the closed thread. I deleted that thread actually, and i did it with no relation to my political opinion.

Trust me, its impossible to talk politics in a civ way. No that you and i wouldnt be able to do so, but there will always be a tiny golems that will burp NAZI **** or "death to iraq" farts.

The admins obviously have the final word, but as long as there isnt hope for civilized politics discussions, there simply wont be ones. *goku clicks the "Send electric shock" icon choosing the Golem user* ;) ;) -> anyway, its definatly essential to have free discussions, but we gotta keep the limits of wrath and anger that people have here. and thats what this topic talks about.

Japanese, eh? No no. Taha is actually Ta Ha, two different alphabets in Arabic. So I guess in English, my name should be T.H.

Cute, eh? Umm.. thank you. But I wouldv'e liked it better if it came from a girl. :):D:lol:

If people are getting hyper about politics (like me), its because its an important issue. Im American, so the possible war on Iraq is a serious issue to me, and probobly to others. We should discuss this and we should be allowed to "flame" political things. The problem is that lots of this Nazi **** and other accusations are/could be true.

Insulting other people personally, though, shouldnt be allowed.

Sure, delete posts if you dont like them, I have too much of a life to care. :D

I like discussing politics myself, and even believe that a matter like war is far beyond politics; it's war, which involves destruction and pain and death.

But, if AquaSoft doesn't want to have politics or similar subjects in its threads, it's ok... we should respect this meeting place and its rules.

Peace,

Ken

Yeah, I guess its still a private site and freedom of speech doesnt apply here, so theres always e-mail (if the government doesnt stop us). I'll shut up about war/politics now. <_
