you should post your address and leave your doors unlocked once you get it :D:D

#150617

As a word of advice, buckle your G5 when you take it in the car and beware of Unbeliever, Pe7er and The Aqua-Soft person of the street, they will be roaming your window 24/7, waiting for a moment of chance in which the security of your new metal baby is compromised... -_-

I sometimes feed them...

^_^ Lovely!

Its a beautiful machine and trust me, its processing speed is incredible. Opening Stevie_BM's 320+ page report on word was a sneeze for it and converting it to pdf took it a mere 20- sec...

#150820

I've been using the top of the range G5 at work for about a month and I have to say I'm not impressed with the speed or the stability. The CD drive runs at about .5 for reading and copying and the G5 is constantly thinking about stuff.

I'd rather be running a souped up PC TBH.

#150827

i have the top of the range G5, the fact that the cd writer is a tad slow is normal because it is a DVD burner as well and some of the speed is compromised there, it still takes around 5 min to burn a cd, whats the big deal? granted, 3 min slower than the one i had on my pc, but i can spare those 3 minutes... at least i can do other things while i burn without the fear that the cache might just get flushed and there goes my copy.

About the thinking about stuff part, so does your pc, it is normal, it is called processing you notice it on the mac a lot more because you can actually hear the difference when it is doing serious processing (btw, this happens a lot with this reply window, the smilies hate my Dualie), on a pc, it is loud all the time.

What have you been running the Dualie for? trust me, you do feel the difference on programs like PS (specially the CS version, or version 7 with the downloadable G5 addon)

Now, please DO NOT turn this thread into a PCs are faster or G5's are faster.

I use it for high end graphics / design, which I agree is markedly quicker and as you stated postscript compression is blistering. But my CD's takes around 20 mins to burn so maybe I have an issue I need to bring up with the supplier.

I love the Mac and am slowly saving for one myself - I was just stating the experiences I have had with a top end G5.

And No I'm not talking about turning this into a PC/Macs thead - I was merely stating my opinion based on my experiences - which as far I can understand I'm still allowed to do on A-S.

I know you weren't, i know you were genuinely stating your views and they are very welcomed, it was a warning for other people, you know how these conversations can very easily turn into flamewars ;) Just preventing instead of fixing ;)
