[help] Retirving A Activation Code From A Program

Good Evening!

I just re-installed Windows and relized that I lost the activation code for Word. Since the program can be legally installed on two pcs I instlled it on my family's desktop and also on my laptop. How can I retrive the code from my pc or get a new one from Microsoft?

By the way I have some games in my cd binder whoes serial codes I don't have since they are on the cases. Is there a smiliar program where the program won't generate a new illegal one but look for one on an pc where it is already installed?

You don't plan ahead when you throw away things do you? That the reason why they put the number in red in most cases, because you need it and not to throw it away.

Wizard, I sorta didn't expect to reformat my hard drive at that point. I switched to the CD binder for a reason and one reason only, organization. I don't know about any of you but my house isn't exactly a palace and I don't have access to royal storage. Sorry to be scarcastic here but please:unsure:... don't post if you don't have anything nice OR helpful to say.

The thing is each game places the activation code in different places. in most cases, the code never gets written onto the hard drive, they are just to make sure you have the box, which translates to, you bought it. And most of these programs would classify under the Piracy section which is not allowed.

This won't help you now, however in the future you may want to consider one of several ways of backing up your serial numbers:

1. Type all of you SNs into a .txt file and save it onto a floppy or USB pen drive, This way they are easy to access when install your software and you may be able to copy and paste the SN.

2. Write (print) the SN directly on the CD with a Sharpie or CD marker. Although if your handwriting is as bad as mine somedays, well...

3. Write the SN onto a piece of paper (or card stock) and insert into your CD binder.

I have to use these suggestion the past, since I tend to lose the CD cases or boxes.
