[help] Computer Crashes When I Log On

my computer crashes as soon as i log on. the hard drive light goes on as bright as it can and i can't use any peripherals. i tried system restore and it didn't work. i tried system repair (on the winxp cd press a key to boot, press enter, f8, and r) and so far so good. i can't check on it because i am at my stepbrother's house

i guessing your window's partition is corrupted.

time to reload winXP. try that if it doesnt work

before you even post, why don't you wait until the repair is done to see if it works...

this post is like saying "i put my clothes in the dryer for 10 minutes and they're still not dry... i put them back in for another 20 minutes and so far, so good... i'm at the library right now so i can't check on them"

well this is getting off-topic. the repair was done. i was waiting to see if it crashed again. oh and i think i fixed it. i moved my sound card to a different pci slot and i am using my comp. now.

hey i am having the same exact problem - my system crashes at logon

(im writing this in safe mode)

so to do repair, i need to use the winxp CD, boot from it and goto repair?

yeah, just boot from the cd and go into the recovery console. there's an option to repair your current installation.
