Dranix, double posting is not usually well seen over here, next time use the edit button, furthermore, search for picassa osx on the boards, you will find a very pleasant surprise.

I have to ad my two cents... Picasa looks good and works pretty darn well... but is has ALOT of glaring deficiencies. Pick up a copy of microsoft digital image nine and you will see what I am talking about. Picasa's inablility to view your albums strictly by the day/date taken is kind of retarded. You are stuck with either renaming all of them to August, September, ect.. or living with picasa's names. The fact that you can only print two 4x6's on one page is a waste of paper when with nearly every other picture program allows you to print three. Also, picasa's keyword tagging system sucks. In DIL 9 you add keywords such as "daughter and birthday" and then select the keyword painter and just drag a brush over all the pictures you want tagged. THen when you want to find them later it is quite simple. Just like in Iphoto. There is only one thing that picasa has that photo 9 does not and that is the VERY VERY USEFUL drop stack. Yes, picasa is the best looking especially with its new skin. BUt if you are looking for fully functional like Iphoto is it not the best IMO. I have both on my system and use them both. They are both nice, but I would reccomend digital image library 9. Go here to check it out: Digital Image LIbrary 9

I wanted to add that I too was enamored by Picasa in the beginning. (Over a year ago) After using it I can say that for most peoples basic needs, it is perfect. When you have 4500 photos and you want to find a pictures from say your daugthers birthday, it is so much simpler in digital image library to click on say "august 10th" or even just the whole month of august to find your pictures. I had better stop now, because the list goes on and on of lacking features. (no batch rename of images, poor importing... if you have 50 pictures and you only import 10 of them and check the box that says delete pictures from disk it deletes all of them not just the 10 you downloaded...) okay I am done. Check it out for your self. You will see. Oh and for some dumb reason, when you import pictures the album created uses that days date instead of the dates of the pictures it contains... oh well

Hopefully all of these will be addressed in picasa 2.0 which is supposed to come out... welll some day...

Oh, and seriously.. .No zoom????? Come on lifescape.

bzeitler those are great points, but the difference between $29 and $99 is alot for a student like myself.... but yup i do miss the zoom function. I don't have 4500+ pics. But i guess when i get there i'll have to change app ;)

The ease of use is amazing, and red-eye removal is really good.

But you're right....in 2.0 hopefully we'll see some zoom action.
