I just uploaded a new version of iTalk. I fixed the menubar so it hides when iTalk loses focus. I also added the ability to drag a single file to the chat window textbox to transfer a file.

mmmmmh.. i downloaded aqua control again... and i got the same error message....
Damn!! iTalk si so good..... Jef.. Help!!!!
Sorry about that! Didn't think I needed to upload the controls again. Download AquaControls.ocx and place it in your system32 folder.

Ahhhh finaly....
thamks jef..... you are the man..... ![]()
btw i haven't managed to make the italk opion bar apear over object bar... even if i set it not to be always on top....
Jef.. are you gonna add emotions?? if so... have you choosen the images you're gonna use? coz i downloaded some icons... and there are some great emotion faces.... i could mail them to you if you like...
and jef... sorry if i bother too much
.. but is you coud integrate italk with object bar would be grat... i mean.. that the options apear on OB as it happens with other apps...
the matter is.. that in order to let the italk option bar to go over OB i have to choose not to dock it.. if i do that.. is irritating when i maximize a window coz it maximize over OB making imposible to reach it....
Or maybe you can make an access to the preference dialog from the main window, in the down left corner through one of those buttons....
i don't know anything about programing.. so i don't know if this is to hard to achive.. so.. forgive me... if you find my request irritating.....
ObjectBar is unable to integrate with programs written in VB.
just curiosity why are all the aqua apps in vb? wouldnt they be faster and more efficient in c or c++ or something of that nature?
The myth that VB programs as significantly slower and less efficient than C++ programs has persisted because at one time it was true. However, as of VB6, the difference is not as significant as you would think. Also, it depends on how program was written.
That said, yes, the Aqua Apps would probably be faster if written in C++ because of the shear amount of graphics stuff I'm doing.
The flip side is that it would have taken ALOT more time to write the programs in C++. Especially the user interface stuff. C++ is fine for writing system type apps (servers and stuff like that.) But VB shines in the user interface part. In terms of ease of programming. The crap you have to do in C++ just to put a form together is a pain!
And in the .Net world, there will be no difference between VB and C# because they are both compiled (by the same compiler) into the same final result. (Which is then interpreted at runtime via the CLR).
let me just say i love your work jef !
this new version is incredible
but one thing.. how do i get to the settings/options/preferences dialog.. or.. if there even is one
hehe love it

bolero:
i had the same problem
it's actually at the top of the screen...either move your taskbar to the side, or right click and and select properties, and uncheck "Keep the taskbar on top of other windows"
iTalk uses a finder like bar at the top of your screen with the options. click on the iTalk text on that bar and go to preferences.
Hmmm...that happens consistently? I occasionaly have that happen to me but I've never been able to repeatedly reproduce the problem.
iTalk is great, but do you have to add the menubar? I find it takes up too much screen realestate, and most of the things dont work on it. Wouldnt it be easier to simply add a preferences button to the iTalk main window? Just a suggestion, cause it does take up screen space, and interferes with other peoples menubars. I liked the earlier builds without this feature. ![]()

I agree, without that menu bar it would be a lil more comfortable, cause its not really useful.
Again jef, I appreciate your work and time.....
i use italk as the default chat ![]()
I have yet to get the latest iTalk working
See my other posts...

hey jef... great job on the updated iTalk, the file sharing works well
the day iTalk is compatable with AIM is the day I live in heaven ![]()
hope to see it for AIM soon, but you should perfect it as is now before starting the AIM protocol.
