You can think of it this way: instead of the link showing up as text ( [.url=big_pic]text[./url] ), it shows up as a pic

You laughin' at me? Are you laughin' at me?! Just kidding. Thanks Keith. My knowledge of HTML consists of one HTML tutorial for ****ies. Btw, will I accomplish the same thing if I use the "attach a file" option?
Good thing IPB Forums don't use HTML . 'S called BB code I think.
And when you attach a file it uploads it to the boards and automatically puts a link at th eend of your post, so no...unless you want to attach the file, post it, copy the url of the file, and then go back and put in in the code...
Lou, I'm trying to learn how to post little thumnails that expand to a large image when you click on them. The image itself is an arbitrary one.

I understand that I don't use the periods but where in the code do I insert the link?
the link to the full sized pic goes in place of "big_pic"; the link to the thumb goes in place of "thumbnail_pic"
You guys are probably going to kick me off this board for so many stupid question but how do you create the thumbnail? Do you use something like Paint Shop Pro to resize the image? If so, what are the dimensions of a thumbnail?
I think he was thinking that the forum would make a "thumbnail" for you. I could be wrong but that's kinda what it sounded like. If it is, the forum won't do that...you have to great the thumbnail and the original size picture...

I'll have the check that out keith. But I myself just create a thumb whenever I need it. I would say that as far as size, you want to keep it under 600 pixels wide. It really depends on the what you are try to display. If it's a wallpaper with little detail, you can easily get by with a 300x225 image or something like that. If it's a thumb of a application that you are trying to show some detail in, maybe go a little bigger.
I usually try to keep it absolutely under 600 wide at the MOST. Usually I just go with 300 wide or so and I let the height adjust accordingly...

Seph, always on the ball. Sorry about the lack of a tag. I looked before I posted but didn't find anything directly dedicated to the forum itself, which I guess my question concerns, so I picked what I thought was the best thread.
