A Question About "ergonomy"

Something i was talking about with a firend and that Apple have studied before to stay on their position about the "window ergonomy". By this I mean the facility to access toobars, captions, buttons in an application.

On my computer i got most of my tools (taskbar, docks, buttons...) on the bottom of my screen. and when you open a window, all your tools are on the top!!! this is simply not ergonomic, think about the miles your mouse is rolling to go from bottom to top!!!!

So i got a question:

Is there a way to have caption and toolbar on bottom of the windows in state of the top???

Apple talked to implement something like that on OSX but it didn't followed the flow although I think it may be a good idea

It could be like a revolution but.. why the fu$$ must we follow the flow of goat?? i think we are all here to make our computer like we want it to be (or like MacOSX for some of you I know)

another idea was to make the start menu moving in state of moving the mouse... I don't know if it would be easy to use, but imagine you got the "programs" menu appearing on your screen and the selected items moves when you move the mouse on the top of the item (it scroll up) and stop when you put the mouse on middle ASO...

that's ideas that could be developed to improve the accessibility and ergonomy of the windows, maybe you've got other ideas or solutions to what i'm looking for???

damn, why not swtich the dock to the top

And its usability you mean, ergonomy is the position of the human body and while using something... :smartass:

I guess it is just a standard that has developed defacto, just like navigation on websites comes usually on the left when the scrollbar is on the right...

The toolbar, and objectbar etc are at the top - this is controls for the current window. Then window content at the centre of the screen, and opening other apps at the bottom, just like the start bar is at the bottom on windows.

Both mac's and windows can put the dock/start bar at the top (at least the windows equivelents of docks can).

Besides, i think the dock looks neat at the bottom, and would be in the way anywhere else (for closing windows etc).

i beleive that windowblinds allows you to put the title bar at the bottom. Although I have never seen anyone do this.

wow, how weird would that be.

someone should re think the whole windows and apple structure to the gui, and make it better! (and all other os's like linux, before some smart a$$ adds that!! :6 )

I know i can put my taskbar on top of my screen but, make a test and try to drag you mouse from bottom to top and then top to bottom...

according to me it's draging down that is easier so i prefer having my taskbar on bottom

WindowsBlind may be the solution but the toolbars in the windows will stay on top of the window, only caption can be on bottom i guess...
