[help] How Do I Set My Default Browser Back To Ie?

For some reason ever since I downloaded MyIE, it decided to make itself my default browser. And even after I deleted it, I still can't set my default browser to anything else. Everytime I start up my computer and run Internet explorer, I get that little "Internet Explorer is not your default browser, would you like to set it as your default browser?" I hit yes everytime.

Even links in AIM profiles don't work. I get an error saying that the program associated with html protocols could not be found. Even pop up links after I have Internet Explorer won't work. I'll click on a link and the window will pop up, but it won't go to the address.

Any thoughts? Could someone please help me? lol

control panel> internet options> programs> check "internet explorer should check...."

me personally, i would just throw away the computer... someone more rational, might try the following:

-go into windows explorer, up to the menu 'tools'-'folder options'

-go to the tab 'file types'

-find the extensions 'htm' & 'html'

-see what application it says opens these 2 file types

-if it doesn't say IE, then click 'change' and choose the app from the list... do it for both extensions.

edit---i didn't realize you were on 98se... i think the basic instructions are the same... you might have to look around a bit to find exactly what i'm referring to, i haven't used 98 since 1993.

you can also set ie as the default program to open for each file type. e.g. file type > html > and go to set ie as default. not sure if that'll work in 98, though. haven't used it in a while.

thats what cracks me up, is when he says something like that, i picture whatever his avatar is, i assume a wookie, doing the thing he says, like throwing a computer out the window

Well hey I have a problem still, it doesn't ask me if I want to set IE as the default browser anymore, but now if a link opens up in a new window, it will not go to the address. It's like the link just opens up a blank browser. I have to copy the shortcut from the link and manually put it into the address bar. Same with buttons, except I can't copy addresses from buttons. So that means if a button opens up a new window I can't view the website it leads to. Any thoughts?? Please help!!! I'm desperate! lol :-(
